When I take the keys out of the car, the entire car turns off . . .

I think that I'm getting closer to determining my problem.

Symptoms:

1.) Flickering DIC/Radio while driving at night - not noticable during the day.

2.) Continual resets of DIC/Clock/Radio

Last weekend I pulled the keys from AJAM and went to lock the doors, they didn't lock, when I went to start the car it started a little lame.

This went away briefly, but now happens lots.

I noticed today because I had to park outdoors.

I pulled the key and went to open the door, no lights.

AJAM has zero power when the keys are out of the car, it's like the keys are out and the battery is also unplugged. I'd say battery/alt issue, but the turning signals click fast and look strong, the remainder of the dash does NOT flicker.

Any thoughts?? I'm thinking of obtaining another wiring harness for my shifter that's what I've been messing around with most recently.

check the dumb stuff first. I replaced my alternator with a spare lately to fix a low voltage issue, turned out the problem was a loose battery cable all along, now the car starts easier. my clock no longer randomly resets, volt gauge is not low all the time anymore. so check battery cable connection and connection to the aux terminal on the under hood fuseblock.

Maybe your ignition switch is going out, it would explain a flickering DIC, but so would a bad battery connection.

Get a charging system test done regardless though... how old is the battery?

Battery cable? Also check AUX.

What condition is the battery in? In my '96 I had problems when the voltage would get low on the battery and made the car do all kinds of crazy shit. New battery (it was 9 years old) and it fixed the problems.

Battery was replaced in 2009.

This seems to point more to ignition switch to me.

The only time I have big issues is when I remove the keys from the car, the whole thing powers down as if the battery has been unplugged.

Get the battery checked. Even tho its only three years old it could be bad. It might be time to replace the power and ground wires coming from it. Those like to corrode internally
