well olds owners,

it is car show time soon , and i promised to remind you of a great car show held in lansing michigan. it is called the oldsmobile homecoming. it is open to all oldsmobiles from the curved dash models from the early 1900's to some of the last olsmobiles off the line. i attended last year , and it was a great show. lots of well organized activities on friday and saturday nights. the car show itself is on saturday during the day in a large parking lot behind some state government buildings in lansing.there are lots of hotel rooms available in a variety of price ranges. lots of nice people to meet and lots of beautiful oldsmobiles, no matter your interest. there were about 10 or so 1990-1995 oldsmobile convertibles attending last year. lots of car parts (swap meet items) and other items for sale.

the show is being held on father's day weekend (june 15-17th). registration last year was $10.00. hope to see some w-body forum members there.

cheers,

gryfan

What day were you planning on going?

I won't be able to make it the 16th for sure. The 15th is also up in the air for me because of work. I would be able to make it on the 17th.

hello 94 vert,

i will be there on friday afternoon(15th).last year they had a tour to a small nearby village named diamondale(i believe) at 6pm on friday night. they had the downtown cleared out , and we had a police escort there. we parked our cars on the main street....and had an impromptu car show. the car owners hit the local diners and pizza joints for dinner. a really great night...the weather was beautiful and all the tops that could go down ....did.

i will be heading home on sunday morning. let's have a good showing of oldsmobiles....especially ones from this site.

cheers,

gryfan

Do you have a website that has all the events listed? If so could you post a link.

94 olds,

i just went to google and punched in olds homecoming 2012 ....and there it was. you have the exact car that i have....white with the dark red interior......'94.

That's cool that we have the same color combo car. Seems like the main show is the 16th. Can't make that, but if theres a cool event going on Friday night I hope I can make it.

That's the link I was able to find.

Lansing is only a hour and half away from my place. So it's fairly close to me.

After looking at the website, I found out the 16 was the day before fathers day. That will most likely be the day I'll be going.

the 16th is the saturday....and that was the main day of the event last year.

may see you there.

cheers,

gryfan

Hey Nick , are you planning a day-trip in Ontario again this year?

I'll have two verts on the road this summer. (the black 94 that you saw is all done with a new top and a bunch of other goodies, and a triple white 95)

hi matt,

first let me congratulate you on finishing up your black vert.....and where did you get the triple white?

as far as a "day trip " in ontario ....i am open to suggestions. last summer we went up to port elgin for the day....and sat at the beach....then drove over to sauble beach. as the sun started to go down ...we all headed for home. that was the crossfire and reatta group....but i drove my olds.how does something like that sound? would you guys be willing to go to lansing for the olds homecoming? some of the w-body guys are already in the states....it was a great show last june.

let me know what you think......and i can't wait to see both of your oldmobiles.

:o cheers,

gryfan

here is some more information on the best olds show in the michigan, ohio, ontario, penn. and ny area.a big draw this year will be a futureliner from "the parade of progress "in the 40's and 50's. this is a rare vehicle. one sold on b-jackson for more than a million dollars. that is worth going to the show for itself.there is a for sale lot for cars and swap meet for those parts that you still need to finish your project.registration for your car is $10.00 before june 1st.

friday night will have a drive to a small nearby village called dimondale. last year we left the show field on friday at 5:30 and did the 15 minute drive ....with a police escort....sirens screaming. the main street was open for us and we had a mini car show and get to know each other session . we hit the quaint main street restaurants and bars. what a great night. as the summer sun was fading we all headed back to lansing.early saturday morning was the registration for the car show....lots of great cars from 1903-to--the last few off of the assembly line.weather was fantistic....sunny and warm......all the convertibles were down.

saturday afternoon after the show of cars the eaton rapids area historical society puts on a display at "the farm". the farm is a step into the past....miller historical house and museum,1950's icecream parlor ,one room school house, blacksmith shop, and more.

it would be nice to see a few of the w-body forum members there.

for information ...call don cooper.....517--290--7455--

e-mail OLDSMOBILEHOMECOMING@aol.com

hope to see a group from canada going down.......the kitchener mafia....the few up in guelph and paris.....london and grand bend area

cheers,

I like the Oldsmobile homecoming idea.

My dad also has a 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, so that would be a great way to incorporate Fathers Day into the equation.

Triple white 95 I picked up off of here, had it shipped up from San Jose Ca with bad head gaskets. Car cost $500.

Here's the progress threads for both cars:

Six of us driving up from Texas for Homecoming; 4 trailered, two driven. I will be driving the Silver Bullet, our '68 Cutlass FlatTop Wagon painted as a '68 Hurst/Olds. Never been to Homecoming; the following Thursday the National Antique Oldsmobile Club is having their 2012 Nationals in Columbus, Indiana, which we will attend, also. Going to try and catch the last leg of Hot Rod Power Tour from Stillwater, OK, to Arlington, TX on June 7th, also, in the SB. Busy year shaping up. To the point, Homecoming is supposed to have the best/largest Swap Meet of any Oldsmobile Event. Take lots'a money!post-6649-14368909083_thumb.jpg

hello aron,

first of all ...what a beautiful car. lots of work went into that i am sure.

when you do join us at the homecoming 2012....come and see us. we are the group that are the late 80's and early 90's cutlass group. most of us will probably be convertibles. also i recommend the friday night gtg in dimondale. it leaves the car show grounds at about 5:30 and a short drive to a quaint little town that is ready for us. downtown parking is reserved for the olds' and we have a mini car show on main street. we leave our cars and have dinner in the many little diners and pizza shops. it gives us a chance to get to know each other ....or renew aquaintances.

hope to see you there,

 gryfan

The National Antique Oldsmobile Show is in Columbus, Indiana, June 21-24th. Judging will be Friday, I think. I think '77 is the last year that can be on the Show Field for judging. We are making a pretty good trip out of both events. Yes, we plan on going to Dimondale on Friday evening; sounds like a hoot.

I won't be able to come Saturday. I'm going to a local cruise and I've already bought a spot to park my car. I still would love to come on Sunday. I'm not sure what events will be happening on Sunday.
