  2. After sifting through 20+ pages of search results, I thought we could all post any production numbers we have in one spot, to make future searching easier (especially since there aren't too many websites that have this information). I DON'T HAVE ALL THE NUMBERS! This is a collaborative thing; everyone just post the info that they have here for everyone else to see! So, here's what I've got: Total 1995 Grand Prix: 131,835 Total Grand Prix Coupes: 58,896 Total Coupes with B4S GTP Package: 9,256 Total Coupes in 41U Black: 8,230 And from this info, my *ESTIMATE* of black '95 GTPs: 1,288. To get numbers on your car: Grand Prix: cac@pontiac.com Regal: http://www.buick.com/contact/email/ Lumina/Monte: http://www.chevrolet.com/contactus/emailus/index.jsp Cutlass: http://www.oldsmobile.com/olds/contactus/cont_Email.html Make sure you have your VIN handy.

    32,000 mile 94 Regal Coupe

Well this is my first post but i'm already on my 3rd 3800 series motor car. 89 Bonneville SE, 97 Lesabre Limited and now my incredible W-Body 94 Regal Coupe. I got the opportunity to buy a little old lady's car and I took it. A 1994 Buick Regal with only 32,000 miles. The car has lived a very easy life being the routine grocery getter. Spending most of it's life in a heated garage. I have a ton of service records on the car and all the original paperwork and documentation. Best of all it has the 3800 motor in it. Really fun car to drive and I can't wait to get a new pair of tires and 5 spoke rims on it.

    W-body decals

Just ordered my W-Body.com decals from Tearstone today. I got the chromed ones. I asked them if they would hold up to the elements and the guy said he's had the chromed ones on for six years and they look like they did when he first put them on. We'll see. Will post pics later when I get them and it warms up outside so I could put them on.

    Digi UB3 adapter

So I'm in the middle of making a UB3 adapter for a digi cluster. And I want to make sure Im doing this right. For example I'd take the C2 on the digi cluster end and connect it to the D4 on the connector that is in the car. I have a digi UB3 connector and the end of a 94 analog where it plugs into the cluster. I solder all the wires from the factory 94 female connector to the male end. Then I have to take the digi wires and connect them to the other side. Any objections to the way I'm doing it? I think it will be good enough. I already have wires spliced into my cluster wires for the DIS. EDIT: Reference. http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/48646-Digital-UB3-install-in-94-CS-with-analog-UB3 That is what I'm going by.

    W-body Install Guides

Since it seems that we do have people that are unsure on how to access speakers, or take apart they're dashes, I figured I would go ahead and upload these. These are the only one's that I currently have. If I am missing some, either they are not available, or I totally forgot about that certain vehicle; Just let me know, and I'll let you know . If a guide is not available, and someone would like to make a nice write up, like the ones in the link, PM me the write up, and I will add it to this. Also, these are currently loaded onto Putfile, which has a 30 day experation, meaning 30 days from the last download, they delete the file off of the system. So... If someone that has a server would be kind enough to download all of these, then upload them to their own and PM me the links, I will glady update this thread. Hopefully this can be added to the FAQ or made a sticky. 88-94 Cutlass http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/Cutlass88-93.pdf 95-97 Cutlass No available guide 88-91 Grand Prix http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/GrandPrix88-01.pdf 92-93 Grand Prix http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/GrandPrix92-93.pdf 94-96 Grand Prix http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/GrandPrix94-96.pdf 97-99 Grand Prix http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/GrandPrix97-99.pdf 00-03 Grand Prix http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/GrandPrix00-03.pdf 00-05 Impala http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/Impala00-05.pdf 98-03 Intrigue http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/Intrigue93-03.pdf 90-94 Lumina http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/Lumina90-93.pdf 95-99 Lumina/Monte Carlo http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/MonteCarlo95-99.pdf 88-93 Regal http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/Regal88-93.pdf 94-96 Regal http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/Regal94-96.pdf 97-00 Regal http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/Regal97-00.pdf 95-99 Riviera http://radio.digitaloutsider.org/wbodydb/tutorials/audioinstall/Riviera95-99.pdf
  7. My dad made the comment that i should grab a second car so im not feeling rushed when wrenching on the monte. I agreed. Been poking around and actually found two nice cars i actually like. 2001 regal gs Pros-clean as hell, most parts interchange with my monte, ive actually wanted a regal for a while, will make a good candidate for a regal 2-door conversion idea i had(hehehe) Cons-they have a price a lil high on it, previous body repair. 2008 impala ss Pros-5.3 , good color scheme(red/black), eeven cleaner than hell, decent price, would b an eventual ls4 donor for monte after car is beat up and the trans dies Cons-little interchange with monte, before mentioned trans weakness, more expensive parts Kinda leaning towards regal even tho the impala is a better deal

5/8 inch to 1 1/4 inch radiator swap

Hows it going guys, had to get a new radiator due to a leak, wont use any kind of stop-leak unless the manufacturer agrees to buy me a new car. So i of course order the bigger radiator from AZ, got it and installed it all the while distracted enough to forget to space the damn cooling fans and the drivers side fan ate a hole into the radiator. No problem, under warranty got another coming. What im wondering is if anyone has had this situation before and what was used to space the fans out slightly enough to clear the radiator and on any of the w-body 3100`s out there are any known to have fan shrouds? Figured some washers would be good enough, dont know. Kind of drunk and just wanting to talk cars i guess.

  10. where would i get the mounts for a 2nd gen w body i pland on fixing my 1st gen lumina and just cutting the old mounts boxing in new steel around the mount on the frame section and get the bolt on style and place them on
  11. Ok any of you that have owned a 60 degree V6 such as the 3100 or 3400 will be familiar with this tube, it runs from the rear valve cover to the intake tube just in front of the throttle body. If you are like me you have probably attempted Teflon tape and or RTV to keep the valve cover end in with not much luck. I have searched for a rubber grommet without success and for years it has just rested in place. Well at the beginning of the year I was working on a GAGT with a 3400 and came up with a nice solid airtight fix. This is what is getting replaced, don't throw it out just yet, you will need part of it. You will need that tube ^ 2. Permatex Ultra black RTV 3. 1 FT of PVC hose 19/32, this will be cut to fit approximately. 4. 1x FORD PVC elbow AutoZone P/N 47032 Tools include a hack saw or serrated cutting tool for cutting the factory tube without bending or breaking it, a file or sandpaper for removing a lip on the PVC elbow and something to cut the 19/32 hose, it also helps to have the ICM/coil pack assembly removed. First get your engine ready for the mod/repair by removing the ICM assembly(I will assume you the reader can do this in your sleep, if not consult your repair manual you NOOB!){this is a joke we all started somewhere} Next locate your purchased FORD elbow and proceed to remove this ONE lip. The one on the side pointing UP in the pic, the other end can be worked into the 19/32 hose for an airtight bond without anything. I used a file and enjoyed a cold beer while doing so. Also note the flat "washer" area of the elbow where my thumb is, this is where you put the RTV and fix it to the rear valve cover. Now once the elbow is filed and the other end in the hose find the original tube and cut off the elbow that fits into the air intake tube. You can make the cut exactly at the elbow. That part fits right into the 19/32 hose. Place your newly created assembly into the rear valve cover and eyeball where you need to make your cut at the intake tube, then RTV the Ford elbow to the rear vale cover and insert the other end into the intake tube then let the RTV cure for about an hour. Pretty self explanatory but feel free to ask any questions should they arise. Update after relocating images! After several months everything holds up quite nice. Ive removed the air intake tube several times since this and the rear valve cover end stay nice and secure.
  12. These are 4th gen f-body weatherstrips in nice shape, cut and trimmed to length, clips removed and ready to drill and install on your 1992-1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible. An excellent replacement for the oem weatherstrip that cracks and deteriorates over time. Here are some pics after drilling and riveting them on my 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible. With trim reinstalled Here's a set I installed on my black 1994 vert. $60 including shipping anywhere in Canada or the lower 48 states. Payment accepted by paypal at: mshantz83@hotmail.com HOW TO: 91-95 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible quarter window weatherstrip replacement 1) You will need to remove the B pillar trim. It's about 6 screws. 2) Have junk in the trunk? Remove it. 3) To remove the piece of trim below the weather stripping, you will need to go in the trunk. There are three 9mm nuts that attach it to the car. The last one is a stretch. There is also one phillips screw on the front of each trim piece by the door handles. 4) Once that is off you have a much better look at what your dealing with. 5) You will need to drill out those rivets. Roll down the window! You do not want to let the drill bit hit the glass. Use a rag in between the window and rivet. Remove the old weatherstripping. 6) Drill out the holes to accommodate your new rivets 7) Measure twice and drill once for the 4 rivet holes. Make sure they're in the right spot. 8) Time for the pop rivet gun! 9) Then pop in your new rivets. Now it's time to put the B pillar and trim back on. 10) Enjoy your new clean weather stripping. It looks a lot better than the old stuff.
  13. Well, since the TGP had KYBs and the sleeves I have wont fit the Gabriels I have had on the CS, I had some time to play with the coilovers. Sure enough, the sleeves fit the KYBs no problem.. The mount has been the other thing that has kinda plagued me, so I was working on a custom mount when I discovered the mounts on the KYBs will WORK!! And they are prolly the best route to go with no modifications needed. So, I have the coilovers assembled and ready for the car. I have pics on my camera and will update in a couple hours with the simple step by step, the exact parts I used and links to buy them, and the cost of everything. Needless to say, the price will smoke Helds price anyday And quality over Helds, no difference, but the mount is better because its not so solid like Helds. The mount NEEDS to take some force instead of the strut rod directly tranferring it to the body. Using the stock mount justs adds a bit more needed cusion without sacrificing handling. I know Held uses a strut rod bushing in the upper mount. They are HARD as hell. -Bob
  14. I've had a couple PMs about this topic over this spring and summer. Since most convertible owners are getting the cars out of the garages. This was a new piece of NOS weather stripping about a year ago. They just don't last. So save your money and don't buy those E-bay NOS convertible weather strips. Figured I'd show how to fix this problem and give a lot of info on the way. I know this has been done before. No one has really done a complete write up on it. These are 1993+ Camaro/Firebird front window weather strips. You can buy these new or pull them at a local yard. There are several clips that hold these in place. Just put a flat screw driver down in between the window and the door and pry up. They should come off really easy. I paid 3 dollars for TWO of these at the local yard. You have plenty of material to do the job. There are clips that used to hold it onto the F-body car. I removed these so they weren't in the way. I took a flat head screwdriver and pried up on them and they came off. There are six rivets on this piece of weather stripping. I drilled them out to remove what they were holding. There are three of those metal bars on the back of the weather stripping. I removed so they would not be in the way of the window. You will need to remove the B pillar trim. It's about 6 screws. Have junk in the trunk? Remove it. To remove the piece of trim below the weather stripping, you will need to go in the trunk. There are three 9mm nuts that attach it to the car. The last one is a stretch. Once that is off you have a much better look at what your dealing with. You will need to drill out those rivets. Roll down the window! You do not want to let the drill bit hit the glass. I tossed in a rag in between the window and rivet. Raining outside. Tossed it up were it needs to go. The length of the factory weather stripping. Measure twice and mark your mark twice. Then drill once. Make sure it's in the right spot. You can see I have some rubber remaining in my drilled holes. I made sure I cleaned that out before I installed. That way you have a really nice fit and finish. Time for the pop rivet gun! Then pop in your new rivets. Now it's time to put the B pillar and trim back on. Old piece. New piece. And enjoy your new clean weather stripping. It looks a lot better than the old stuff.

  16. Ended up with another Gen 1 (not complaining). After my asshole roommate blew up the engine in my Mark VIII a friend gave me this... 1997 Olds Cutlass Supreme coupe. Clearcoat is gone on the hood and tops of the fenders and front bumper. The passenger side body kit needs to be repainted as well. There is also minor damage to the passenger side from when the previous owners hit a deer. Not going to go crazy with the mods on this one until I get the title (should be in another 2 weeks). I do have a list of planned mods (mostly stuff I had done to my previous cutlass's... HUD, ATC, cleaning it up, ETC).
  17. It happens a couple minutes after starting, if I go in reverse or drive sometimes it'll stall out with out my foot on the gas. I changed plugs, wires, map sensor egr valve gasket, cleaned throttle body iac and egr, fuel pressure was normal, cant find vacuum leaks. Does anybody have an idea or have had this problem before? map sensor reads bad but I replaced it and tested the new one, code 33 is coming up, I used a multi meter at the plug and its getting 5 volts. Here's a video.
  18. Not much really to say... It's my build thread. Now that I have 2 cars again I can finally focus on getting the Cutlass where I want it to be without having to worry about having it good to drive when I need to go somewhere since my Camaro is now my daily driver. So far I've had the Cutlass sitting for about 2 months now since there's just a lot I need to work on that car, so without further ado this will be my build thread. Every mod and some fixes will go in here. My ultimate goal is to have a cruiser for those days when I have people with me (the Camaro barely fits 4 comfortably) while at the same time modernizing the 1G W body into what GM should had made it the first time around. This won't be a night to day transformation but it might be entertaining for people to see what can be done with these cars... Plus with Cardomain being wack now I kinda wanted a place to talk about my car. Here's some pics of the last time I washed the car in October or so. This is pretty much how she sits now.

when did the "w-body" come to be?

o.k. so does the w body term include models before 1997 or is that the true starting year?
  20. Please circle November 1st, 2014 in your calendar, that will be the last day to submit pictures. As per usual ediquette, if you have your car featured in the calendar you are expected to be buying one. I am looking into options for uber-big, uber-glossy calendars or the standard: Cafe Press regular calendars. More announcements & details to come along with an address to submit your photos to. Due to the rather large collection of photos that I have if you want one of my pics of your car (not someone elses), just contact me with the picture name. They are all numbered if you save one from the meet threads.
  21. What does GM call this part? Yes, where all the rust is right by the wheel, but not the rocker panel. Body shop 'slang' seems to call it a 'dog leg', but I haven't been able to find reference to such in the sheet metal parts lists. For some reason, Chapter 11 in my 1992 Cutlass Supreme manual only has sheet metal diagrams for the Convertible.

    1992 Cutlass Supreme S Tranny

Hello y'all. I'm not sure who will read this because I am still trying to figure out how to use W-Body as I am new to the whole thing. But I'm going to ask on here if anyone knows about transmission coolers... The ones that are itty bitty and suppisably cools the tranny so hear related failure will not occur. I got a 92 Cutlass Supreme 3.1 btw. Any help would be much appreciated
  24. Someone put a video on Youtube concerning changing the front struts on a W-body. First one I've seen so far, and fairly well done. Only comment I'd make is that I personally used a bit of silicone grease to make the upper mount go back in properly. And not really sure if its necessary to drain the oil off. The theory presented, that leaving some oil to act as a coolant, is an interesting one (although not sure if its true!). If anyone has any doubts as to how easy the fronts are to change, watch that video, and any doubts should quickly dissipate.
