  1. Please circle November 1st, 2014 in your calendar, that will be the last day to submit pictures. As per usual ediquette, if you have your car featured in the calendar you are expected to be buying one. I am looking into options for uber-big, uber-glossy calendars or the standard: Cafe Press regular calendars. More announcements & details to come along with an address to submit your photos to. Due to the rather large collection of photos that I have if you want one of my pics of your car (not someone elses), just contact me with the picture name. They are all numbered if you save one from the meet threads.
  2. First, I'd like to start off by thanking everyone that came out to the last meet despite the crappy weather. Think all but 1 person from the attendees list showed. That being said....mother nature owes us one big time. For that reason, I'm going to put together another Herrick Lake cookout meet real quick to hopefully make up for the weather disaster from this last one. How does June 27 work? Edit: June 27th is now confirmed. Official thread is here: http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/81416-Northern-IL-w-body-meet-XLIX-(Herrick-Lake-Wheaton)-June-27 Please remember to bring $5 to contribute to the cost of food and supplies.
  3. WHERE: Highbanks Metropark in Columbus and lodging at Motel 6 on High Street. Park: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Highbanks+Metro+Park/@40.141888,-83.02755,12z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x676a1752a0d79aac Hotel: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Motel+6/@40.115733,-83.015487,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xdb852f5e8c2c84c WHEN: Saturday, June 27th around 12PM WHO: Hopefully you and a lot of other W-Body folks WHAT: BBQ and hang out -- I know there are junkyards in the area as well. WHY: Because it's awesome. HOW: Hopefully by automobile. I have booked a block of 15 rooms for Friday and Saturday night at $45.99+tax/night -- all you have to do is show up that day and pay for one of the rooms. I need to get a headcount and attempt to work out if I will need to reserve any more rooms so nobody gets left out but there is also a RRI butting up against the Motel 6 property so that makes it a little easier if we have a larger turnout. https://www.facebook.com/events/751599591604820/751601048271341/ -- there's an event on FaceBook I will keep updated. Please invite people that I may have missed. I hope to get some new faces at this meet as I know there are some folks in Dayton that have W-Body events that would be likely to attend.
  4. 3rd or 4th annual, I've lost track. For the Columbus meet (date of June 26th - 28th) We're bringing it back regardless. For those unaware, Ruffles All-Dressed chips are awesome chips that are only available in Canada. We'll be selling bags for $5 each with 100% of the monies going to maintenance and upkeep of the forum, we'll be bringing 20 bags so reverse on this thread $5 X 20 bags = $100 for the club. This year Matt (Got2BGM) has been kind enough to buy half of the allotment and I'm buying the other half (I would recommend cornering me and getting chips from me as soon as I get there as his could be counterfit Chinese chips) Thanks to all who purchased in the past, and thanks again to Luke for all he does, looking forward to seeing him at the meet. List name and reservations below in the format: 1.) PsychoMatt (2 bags) 2.) Nunzi (1 bag) 3.) Luke (3 bags) =============== Total 6 bags And then keep on adding.
  5. List up the stuff you're bringing and stuff you need. I need: 2nd Gen FSTB/RSTB Could use a L36 power steering pump as well
  6. So, we have a vote going for the date. Now let's work on the location. I can work with the hotel in Toledo to get the same deal we've been getting the last few years, but there has been a little talk of moving it. I'd be more than happy to set it up in Dayton at a better hotel, I can think of a few right off that would be suitable near parks that would also be suitable for our group. If another location is wanted, please put it in the discussion. I'll start a poll after some discussion, because right now Toledo and Dayton are the only two I personally can think of as solid. I know there are other good cities, Columbus and even possibly Cincy are possibilities IMO. Let's get some discussion going!
  7. This is the big 3800 Gathering Meet in Greater Detroit Area. Admission is $10 - per vehicle. (Donated to Leader Dogs for the Blind Charity) Washrooms on site, admission is per vehicle. There is parking for non-W's or 3800 cars, it is across the street in a dirt lot. Location: 3500 Marais Ave. Royal Oak, MI 48073. They have prizes that you can buy tickets for, along with a hot dog cart type of vendor, and parking for approx. 150-200 W-body or 3800 vehicles, there's a thread in the pics section with some of my pics from last year. They also had a DJ, same thing (more strict than our meets absolutely no burnouts, but insanely well organized) http://www.wbody3800gathering.com/ Last year we got a group rate at a pretty decent hotel for around $80 a night, there was Friday night festviities too, and those of us who stayed at the hotel were up till around 5-6am on Sunday morning/Saturday night. Much of the group went to Woodward as well late night. I've already made my feelings clear on it to several individuals in our group, but I will re-state. We need to either steer clear of this weekend for our big meet, or merge with this meet for our big meet in June. Plan on arriving early, if last year is any indication, you will not be able to find parking for your Space Bobby car in the main lot after 12:00pm or so. Hope to see lots of people there.

  9. Let's get the June meet set up! This is the voting thread for the date, but I want to see some discussion on location as well. I have no problem setting it up in Toledo again, I'll just call our normal RRI and set up the reservation, but I'm not opposed to any other location. If I don't see consensus on one location, I'll just set it up in Toledo again. Please VOTE FOR A DATE. The weekend with the most votes will win. I'll put a week deadline on this vote -- please vote by WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18. Edit: I decided to make it simple and not multiple choice so we get more of a definitive answer, I was just retarded and forgot to remove that text from the OP.
  10. So I'm going to try to work in some different venues for this year since it's the 10th anniversary, but while I research some different options, I figured we can throw together a Herrick Lake cookout meet in the meantime. For those of you that attended the last one of 2014, you may recall we tried a different approach to that one. Instead of everyone bringing something off the checklist to contribute towards the cookout, I just purchased everything we needed, and everyone just brought $5 cash to chip in towards the total cost. If that works for everyone, I think we may try that again. Keeps the planning part of it a lot easier. As for a date, how does May 30 work? MAY 30TH IT IS. OFFICIAL POST WITH INFO FOR THE MEET CAN BE FOUND HERE: http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/81344
  11. L36 heads for sale, $20/pair. If someone wants them I can run them to the Columbus meet, too heavy to bring if nobody says they want them. 130,000 miles off running engine. L67 blower, TMU, off an engine I stripped. Again too heavy unless someone claims it. $25. 2 brand new remote fobs for gen II, bought for the Bonneville and they're the wrong ones $8/ea. Left hand DIC, lightweight, it's coming regardless. $8. 3 Gauge dashtop pod $15, wanted to live where my HUD is going so I used alternate mounts. L36 fuel rail, lim, tb, make offer, not coming without some interest. Have a used uim to go as well but I wouldn't run a used one so I'm assuming nobody wants it. l26 Fuel rail, I don't know why I have an L26 fuel rail but it's pretty. L36 Valve Covers I'll probably have more odds and ends.

  13. I have found a location in Columbus that would be a good spot for our meet -- Highbanks Metropark on 23 and a Motel 6 down the road a piece, about 3 miles. I figure we can give this a shot for some variety, and have the second meet in Toledo as it has worked for us for a few years. Of course, this being our meet it is not my decision alone. Please vote for how you'd like this year to go. I will leave this up for a week and make this thread visible.
  14. Well kids, it was 10 years ago on March 19th that a small group of grocery getter family car fanatics decided to get together at a little hamburger joint in Downers Grove, IL for a "mini-meet" to hold them over until a larger event was planned. While there have been ups and downs along the way (turnouts varying with some members leaving us or the scene while new members began the journey anew, weather ranging from brilliant to uncooperative, etc), 10 years and 46 events later, the meets are still going! SO, in honor of the date of the first show 10 years ago, I'd like to propose March 21st as the next meet. I am also looking at getting one of the party rooms at Fox & Hounds in Aurora for us provided enough people are interested. I will have to confirm the details with them, but the last time I checked on this (almost exactly a year ago ), I believe the minimum was 20 people to do a buffet style selection. They had numerous buffet choices ranging anywhere from $13/person on up to $22. I recall the pizza buffet being the one that was $13, and allowed you to chose 3 kinds of pizzas. I'd like to start by seeing how many people would be up for something like this. In the meantime, I am going to try to speak with the person in charge of coordinating parties to get some updated details. UPDATED FROM POST #11: OK, kids. I've gathered some intel. Seating - There are 2 "party rooms" off on either side of the main dining/bar area. We can make reservations for as many people as we need, and they'll accommodate with enough tables to take care of that. If we want to reserve either side for ourselves, we'd have to pay $75/hr to do so. I don't think we need that, so not a big deal. As long as we have as many tables as necessary for our group to be able to dine together. Food - I'm glad I talked over the buffet layout, because quite frankly, it seems like a rip off for the amount of food you get. For example, the pizza buffet has bumped up to $14.49/person since last year, and it is based off everyone getting 2 slices and 4 wings. So our alternative is everyone can order off the regular menu with individual bills. That way, everyone can get whatever they want, not to mention get you a lot more food for that $14.95 range. Games - In these rooms, we will have access to the following: Free - Darts, Foosball, giant Connect 4 & giant Jenga; $1/game - air hockey; $11/hr - pool, shuffle board & ping pong. Dates - They already have 2 larger party reservations for the 21st at 7:30 PM. However, the 28th is wide open at this point. If that date works for most, I think that would be better. I put us down for a party of 10 - 20 already just to make sure we got it. She said we can always cancel or change it within 2 weeks if need be. In other words, this will basically be like a Fuddrucker's meet, but with an upgraded venue. Food will cost around the same, just with a larger menu to select from. We'll still have a large room kind of off from the rest of the restaurant, except we can make reservations, and will have access to games. It is in large strip mall, so even more space to get all our cars together. I'd like to plan this one for the evening as opposed to noon, so it'll be a bit more like a Saturday night party atmosphere. For those looking for info on location and menu: https://www.foxandhound.com/restaurantinfo.aspx?location=fox---hound-aurora MARCH 28th IS NOW THE OFFICIAL DATE. OFFICIAL MEET POST WITH INFO CAN BE FOUND HERE: http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/81112-Northern-IL-w-body-meet-XLVII-Aurora-%2810-yr-anniversary!%29
  15. As many of you, whom have already meet me know I’m from Angola, NY. I’ve been hesitant to attempt hosting a meet, but after some positive feedback in Erie, I’m going to at least try in 2015. For those whom aren’t familiar with Angola it’s uniquely situated like an island in the middle of the E/B and W/B lanes of I-90. Aside from service vehicles it’s virtually inaccessible by road, you have to park on either side of the highway and then there’s a long pedestrian bridge on either side that’s full enclosed that you have to walk through to get to the Travel Center (the heart of Angola). Ideally we’re looking at the weekend of May 8th-10th for the meet. For simplicity and pictures. We should all meet in the Westbound parking lot. You need to go past the Travel Center, and get off at the next exit (57A Angola/Eden) and immediately get back onto the NY Thru way going in the opposite direction. Yes, this involves surrendering and then obtaining a toll card, if you do a U-Turn and do not have the appropriate card you will get charged even more tolls than you would otherwise and you will also be delayed. Everyone going through Erie (for example Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Toledo, etc) will need to go to the meet in this manner, it may sound confusing, but you’ll get home quicker if you do things this way. http://www.thruway.ny.gov/travelers/...tp-angola.html There’s a Sunoco gas station on site (both sides) and once you walk across the bridges to Angola, there’s McDonalds, LavAzza, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Auntie Anne’s, Cinnabon and McDonald’s is open 24 hours a day!! Loads of sitting room. Wifi access is limited to 30 minutes or so, and plenty of bathrooms. Entertainment: I’m used to it since I live there, but this place (I’m told) is 100% non-stop excitement if you haven’t been there before. You can visit the Eastbound parking lot and twin Sunoco, the trucks look as if they are going to crash into you on the bridges, and I’m hoping that we could have a few photographers like maybe Eric, Rich and Lizzie take some neat passing shots from the bridges with us all parading under. We’re a ways out, but I’d consider a group trip to “Gay Road†if there’s interest. Accomodations: My place is obviously a little too small for this kind of thing, and I can’t really get close to accommodating everyone. I’ve been in contact with Galen and he can rent & fuel a climate controlled trailer for about $700 a day. (Climate controlled is heated only) which is why we’d have to have the meet so early because otherwise it could get pretty hot in those things! So if there was 10 people at the meet it would be $140, there would be some outlets in the trailer, but most of the time we’d be outside partying at the picnic area or inside Angola. You’d have to bring your own air mattress and/or sleeping bag. Questions?? Everyone asks me if I can get discounts at any of the restaurants inside the travel plaza. No, I cannot, you have to actually work for those places to get the discounts, and even then, they only apply to you. Just because I live in the Travel plaza, doesn’t mean that I somehow automatically work there, I have another job that’s not fast food. Do you have to walk all of the way to the Travel Plaza on the highway median to get food?? Not really, there’s rotundas out by the parking lot and there’s vending machines there with snacks & drinks. The real advantage to getting drinks inside and walking the walk is that you can buy one cup from McDonald’s put your name on it and go back for free refills all weekend long. I guess that I’m putting this thread out there to generate ideas and for those are considering going to ask questions.

    June Toledo meet

So is this going to happen this year we are 3 months away.
  18. We have done a meet in years past during the North American International Auto Show. I haven't seen anyone mention it so far, so I figured I'd get things rolling. First off, we will need to set a date. I am scheduled to work both weekends so I need to know ASAP when we plan on going so that I can request it off, and I'm sure there are others who need to request off as well. Personally I would prefer the 23-25. Usually we will meet up on Saturday morning at the convention center, typically will meet somewhere for dinner outside of the city in the evening.
  19. So figured I'd try for one more meet (obviously at Fuddrucker's) before 2014 is through. I was thinking either December 13th, or the 20th. Thoughts?
  20. Hey, guys. Sorry for the delay in planning the next meet. Been a crazy last couple months. I'm going to shoot for another meet in December, but I wanted to see how many people would be up for squeezing a quick Downers Grove Fuddrucker's meet in before that. Say November 1st? Date: Saturday, November 1st Time: 12 PM - ??? Location: Fuddrucker's (World's Greatest Hamburgers) 1500 Branding Lane Downers Grove, IL Description: Meet for local w-body.com members, but all are welcome to attend! This will be a smaller event to just hang out and eat with some fellow members & enthusiasts. More of a meet and greet type event. No need to bring anything except yourself, your car and some money for food. Attendees: RareGMFan (w-body.com, gpf.net) Euro (w-body.com, gpf.net) Cully77 (w-body.com)
  21. Obviously this sound is associated with a warped rotor, usually due to a hung caliper. Before the June meet I did a rotor and pads, the caliper was moving freely. After a couple weeks the sound returned so I took it apart, rotor doesn't appear to be warped when on a flat surface so I put it back together and no noise for a couple days. Last weekend I did pads again, a new rotor, honed and rebuilt the caliper (which is still moving freely) and a couple days later my familier thumping returned. Today I got new slides and hardware to put in, (one of the old clips is less than perfect). Anybody have a suggestion as to what else may cause this?
  22. Hey, guys. Trying to be more timely on planning these things, so how does another Herrick Lake meet on July 19th sound? I think the $5 "admission fee" concept worked pretty well last time....with the 5 or 6 people we had, so we may try that again instead of the "things to bring checklist" if that's cool with everybody. EDIT: July 19th is the official date. Official info can be found here http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/80057-Northern-IL-w-body-meet-XLV-%28Herrick-Lake-Wheaton%29-July-19th **Please remember to bring $5 to put towards all the food/supply.** No need to bring anything other than the $5. I will be buying/bringing everything for the meet.
  23. Anyway, let's do a September meet. I'm thinking the 19th weekend would be perfect. Toledo would probably be the easiest, though I'm not opposed to going elsewhere. Maybe even just a different part of Toledo? I dunno... Anyway, let's see where this goes, I'm in as long as it's not the weekend of the 5th (wedding), thought I'd like to see it fall on the 19th.
  24. Anyone ever replaced this on a factory power sunroof? I dont even know how to go about getting the glass off. Reason I ask is mine is leaking at the back of the sunroof where the two ends of the weather stripping meet. Any ideas? TIA
  25. Everyone always complains that Shawn's doesn't have enough tables reserved for us. Please, please, please!! Put your name down and be counted for Saturday dinner, you and any boyfriends, girlfriends, friends who will be attending: (Copy the list and continue with you name) - Thanks! 1.) Breakdown.
