menace7 Posted August 15, 2011 Report Share Posted August 15, 2011 Hi Everyone! I'm a driveway part time car guy! have to old cars 94 camry and 96 Sunfire convertible. The reason I signed up is because I just replaced my tranny in the sunfire. It has the 2.4 4 speed auto tranny and first and reverse were shot (slipping like crazy). When the swap (with a junk yard) in my driveway weas done the tranny wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. I searched and read and checked everything. What it turned out to be was the round electrical plug on the top to the tranny by the rad. Apparently you can connect the plug and then take it out and rotate it 180 degrees and it fits back in. You probably already guessed what happened when I rotated it 180 and test drove the car. Yeap it shifts great now!! I have also changed the water pump on this car and it is a pain.
