dune buggy project.

With the smallport motor? Nonono. This thing's a fucking ticking time bomb, hence me wanting to chuck it ASAP.

Although I still kinda wanna do a crazy LQ1 Locost or something of the like

Crap. So I guess I'll be porting my manifolds.

Wait, large port manifolds were 2G only correct? Or am I missing something here?

I hope that's a good thing and not a WTF STOOPID NOOB thing

I just wanna have all my bases covered before I start ripping shit apart.

Jon, Bob, what did/were you guys going to use for exhaust manifolds? If I was going to build a DP could I use other manifolds? Push comes to shove I guess I'll try making a front log but idk if I'll be any good at that...

if you're going to go with a custom downpipe, you can use pretty much any 60V6 exhaust manifold from gen2 upwards... the stock 3500 front "semi-header" is nice, though it MAY get uncomfortably close to your fan brackets and require modding of the dogbone mounts.

worthwhile question: is the 2nd gen downpipe as bad as the 1st/1.5 gen pipe? as in, there's a huge as restrictor and it's double walled?

That's too much money, run no downpipe!

i, for one, am not fond of carbon monoxide poisoning....

though i guess it would allow you to tune fuel requirements by smell...

any 97+ gen 1 or gen 1.5 w-body will have the correct downpipe to meet the newer 97+ rear manifold... I have a clean enough used 97+ downpipe, I was just going to cut and clamp myself.... i doubt any other vehicle will have a factory downpipe that has the clearance to fit in our cars...

Just get a custom 2.5" DP made. Should run around $100 to $200 at a decent exhaust shop.

Around here, try $300+.

I'll just have to try my hand at making my own.
