    Hello, friends!

Don't necessarily agree with that.....the LQ1 doesn't sip fuel, it will chug-a-lug it.. keep your foot out of the oilpan and it will provide somewhat modest fuel economy.........but the engine does have it's own unique howl

New Rear 6 x 9 Speakers, need ideas

Just completed an order of a set of these. Got to keep things moving ahead. I'm hoping they arrive by this weekend Not sure if you read any of my other posts but I'm hustling to get it done by late next month when my nephew turns 17, I would like to give him this car. The rear seatback needs to be fixed and I'd like to take a crack at re-soldering the door lock remote brain that's located right next to the rear speaker to try and get them to work. Thanks Again for this lead, these speakers fit the bill.

    1994 Cutlass Supreme- it's back!

Yep, this was the very video I reviewed and it was key to my decision to not attempt this job. This video was very valuable to that end, thanks for the post. I will be advising the mechanic to get the kit for this job which includes 2 new idler pulleys and the tensioner pulley.

    Hello, friends!

I think I would have to disagree with both of you, I haven’t noticed it to be much better or worse than the 60° engines or the 3800s I’ve owned, I seem to get somewhere around the 22 to 24 mark on the ones I’ve owned, slightly more on the five-speed of course

    1994 Cutlass Supreme- it's back!

Will post 'em this coming weekend. Over the past 2 weekends (due to other projects needing more attentions as in cleaning the yard) I installed new KYB strut cartridges in the front and capped them with the factory Front Strut Tower Brace. Big improvement, as the passengers side came out in pieces. It was amazing how many noises the car was making before I changed the Struts which are no longer there. I'm going to have the mechanic change the Timing Belt, the one in it has been there since 1997, it's overdue to be replaced. No long trips until that gets done.

    Hello, friends!

That's what Jay Leno says, if you have a car you love - "find the club"! Other people who are passionate about the car can be very knowledgeable. I'm glad this place is still active! So many of these vehicles were just used up and thrown out. Don't crush 'em - restore 'em!

    Hello, friends!

Hello again! It's really great to see the forum is still active. I bet the LQ1 with the 5 speed is a fun combination. I always thought it was a neat engine, especially as unlike Ford (which went to Yamaha for their DOHC V6), GM developed theirs independently. I asked the question as my W-Bodies are all pushrods, and you can't quite rev them stupid like you can with an overhead cam design. No complaints about the motors though! The 3800 and LS4 are both excellent engines. It's so hard to believe my GXP is already 13 years old. It feels like yesterday that I got that thing. Great car - "never gonna give her up" - lol. Thank you for the warm welcome, all!

    Hello, friends!

Welcome! I have two early LQ1 cars and so in love with them! I'm very slowly getting them running as they have sat unused for many years. I love working on them and I have learned so much thru this Forum. I have so much more to learn and looking forward to it!

    Hello, friends!

They’re fun engines, I’ve had 3; my old cutlass vert, a 96 Monte Carlo daily driver that had around 180k, and currently have one with a 5 speed in the gtp. Other than the engine bay being a little cramped they’re not bad, and I was never sure why they got such a bad rap.

Rear Speaker Change- 1994 Cutlass 2 Door

Aye, will do. I'll attempt this one the rear speakers come in. I've settled in on buying a set of the Special High Performance Co-axials from Turnswitch.com., they have a set that go 3 1/2 inch deep, and have a contoured ceramic magnet that resembles the factory magnet, that should be fine. I've been buying from them for my 4 x 10 speakers in my 1979 cars, all made in USA! I have some adaptor plug ins on the way so there will be no wire cutting.
