How do you adjust the TV cable: 4T60 (NOT the E version)
90sEraWhips reacted to Oilpatch197 for a topic
1992 Buick Regal GS with the 3800. How do I adjust the TV cable, and how do I adjust the Modulator? When I rapidly accelerate it has a two second delay before it kicks into gear(causing excessive RPM's and a hard shift) Would like to check my adjustments.1 point -

http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/44452-Drivetrain-4T60 post #2. i had never messed with a TV cable before when i wrote that, so even a beginner should be able to make sense of it. as for adjusting the vacuum modulator: if you have an adjustable one, there should be a screw/bolt that can be adjusted to modify line pressure.1 point -

That's how the transaxle end looks, that little eyelet or whatever you wanna call it is what slips over the little hook in the transaxle. Slide off the old cable while holding the transaxle linkage and then slip your new cable eyelet over it, then bolt it down, and adjust the tv cable. Here's the basic adjustment procedure. If you do it like shown(step 4. , it will usually shift a little high(mine is always about ~200rpms high on the initial adjustment, but yours could be different), so you'll have to adjust, test drive, then readjust to get it where you want it. http://tciauto.com/Products/Instructions/instructions/gm_tv_cable_adjust.htm1 point -
Detent "Kickdown" Cable replacement
90sEraWhips reacted to Bossman429 for a topic
Matt is correct. When I unhooked mine I found it was much easier to pull far enough out of the trans with the other end (throttle body) disconnected. with yours broken it should already be disconnected. All the end in the trans is is a cable bent 90 degrees and it hooks to a rod with a hole in it inside the trans.1 point -

Jarek, you need to unbolt the cable from the transaxle, then pull the cable up and slide it off of the hook that's inside the trans. I'll edit this post with a picture of transaxle end of a detent cable in just a minute. I have the one off my TGP sitting in my closet right beside the computer.1 point -

The thing is that it hooks inside the transmission somehow. Its the plastic hookup the goes into the trans that broke. Jarek1 point -

4T60 Shifting issue...
90sEraWhips reacted to Brian P for a topic
it's so hard to explain it on the internet, if you were here It'd take me 10 seconds. To reset the cable (like if you accidentally overadjusted it) you press down that button, grab the black cable SHEATHING that's "behind" the button (opposite the TB) pull that away, towards the P/S, you'll hear clicking. Then release the button, manually open the throttle linkage all the way (will hear clicking again). To ADJUST the cable so the tranny shifts lower than stock, grab the tip/end of the cable (not the sheathing or clip or button, the actual cable) with pliers and slowly pull until you hear more clicking. You don't need to press on the button at all. Usually 3 clicks does it good. Does this make any more sense? If not I may have to take a pic, however I no longer have any 440-T4 cars around...1 point -
4T60 Shifting issue...
90sEraWhips reacted to Jon89le for a topic
Hey Brian, I tryed the adjustment this weekend but couldnt get the clicks. I rocked the motor forward to simply things. I pushed the little square button down while pulling the metal linkage cable that attaches to the TB but no luck. Id pull it and as soon as i let go it'd go back to the same spot. What am i missing?1 point -

the square button on "top" of that, yeah. It's hard to push, may need to push down with like a 3/8 extension bar1 point -

The reset button, thats what im asking about. If i trace away from where TV cable attaches to the TB, theres this small round plate, maybe 2" side, that the cable goes through. At that plate is where theres a clip of some sort which is where I was assuming the adjustment is done at. If i had my digicam with me id take a pic but i dont.1 point
