    DIC 1995 Grand Prix

I remember seeing years ago a small computer located on the upper drivers side dash in a 95 Grand prix. What was this computer for again and could i install one in mine? Does anyone have one for sale and/or remember what they were called so I can search for them online. Thanks

    DIC 1995 Grand Prix

Extremely rare like what 94oldsvert is talking about, a 96 GP GT sedan. Fully loaded with HUD, DIC, leather, factory CD, moonroof, and the LQ1. Currently for sale on FB for only $500! Non running of course.

    DIC 1995 Grand Prix

Very rare, probably a 1 of 1 car, a 94 GP SE sedan with HUD, DIC, factory CD player, and bench seat/column shift.

    DIC 1995 Grand Prix

I agree too with 94oldsvert. I have been getting some backlash though, guys saying that a 96 will work on the 94-95 cars and I'm not educated enough on how or why. I wish I would have grabbed them now when I seen them in the yards over the years. I didn't know better, rookie mistake. 1995 GTP with both HUD and DIC. You can see them both in the second pic.

That's amazing, I'm gonna try this. Just plain old white vinegar? Thanks man!

    DIC 1995 Grand Prix

They were DICs. Driver Information Centers. A 1995 grand prix will need one from a 1994 or 1995. One from 1996 will not work. 1996's are rare and you probably won't come across one of those. So it isn't too much of a worry.

I have let stuff sit in salt and vinegar for a month it does a great job. It will only attack the rust not the clean metal. A week should give you very good results. Just as an example a couple of bolts that were very rusty on my 50 year old cub came out great after a week sitting in that solution.

soak it in vinegar with some salt in it. The rust will fall off and only clean metal will be left. Then you could probably just push it out. I would be afraid to cut a seat belt mount. One small cut or scrap and you reduce its structural integrity.

I figured they would since the bolt head was so rotted. If this car was in an accident with belted rear seat occupants, it wouldn't be good.

Prefer a '95, as that is what I had before, and I like the '95 interior much better.

What's left of the driver's side torque box/support rail areas under where the driver's feet would be.

    Where did they all go?

The Cash for Clunkers program wiped a vast majority of older vehicles out, I remember seeing all sorts of nice cars turning up to be destroyed. I know one other person here that drives a 3.1 `92 coupe and he's not interested in giving his up either. I`d like to get another 1st gen for an L67 swap, probably buy one already done looking for a good home. As common as it was for that swap I havent seen those come around for sale that often either.

    Where did they all go?

And then there's corrupt Government dirtbags that provided tax-funded giveaways to people who scrapped and destroyed older vehicles. Once the waterglass went through the bearings and lifters, there was essentially nothing salvageable from the engine; and there's only so much market for interior or chassis parts when millions of vehicle get scrapped at once. In other words, "crushed and sent to China". Bastards.

I have seen that before in MI. I used to pull on the seat belts at cars in the junkyard just to see if they would pull free. A lot of them did. Pretty scary.

Ok, I'll keep a lookout. By the way, since were talking about rust issues. Get this, my parts car is so rotted, the seat belt bolts that are mounted to the floorpan, they completely tore from the body due to the rot!

Well, it was a bust. While not quite as bad as the pictures above, it still had some serious rust issues, and holes. Not to mention the current owner broke the drivers door handle, and tried to pry the door open. So they put a new dent in it in the rear quarter panel, nice of them to share that before I made the drive out there... Guess I'm on the lookout now for a good one!
