  1. Reviving a dead thread as I just had to deal with this. I also have this in my '96 and it is essentially a marketing gimmick. I just replaced my cheapo dual rear speakers with proper replacements to take advantage of the "8 speaker" system. I bought my speakers from Crutchfield and the ONLY model they sell that works with this system is the Retrosound R69-N. They are dual voice coil speakers which is how they justify calling the 4 physical speakers an 8 speaker system. You can use regular 6x9 speakers, but since each set of wires is either the treble or bass, you can tell that something is off. It's expensive but my stereo sounds much better now. I would like to add that from what I and the people at Crutchfield could tell, the front speakers are just regular 5 1/4th speakers. Here is a link to the speakers, keep in mind they don't come as a pair so you have to specifically order 2. The Crutchfield website also says they don't fit '96 Grand Prixs, but I don't believe they are including the 8 speaker system in that search. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_068R69N/RetroSound-R-69N.html?skipvs=T In case anybody needs help with wiring: Left (Driver's) side: Right voice: Blue + Green - Left voice: Brown + Yellow - Right side: Right voice: Dark Blue + Light Blue - Left voice: Green + Grey - These speakers obviously don't come with plugs to hook them up to the stock system, so make sure you wire them up to the correct voice. I do not know how to wire an amp up to these, but I've been considering installing one. If I do, I'll post an update.

I've always preferred the '94-96 coupes myself
  3. I wish my paint was in that good of a shape
  4. This is probably because both of my grand prixs were highly optioned, but I'm surprised that not all Grand Prixs had a keyless entry by '01, I always thought the only Ws you could get in that low of a trim were the Luminas.
  5. Can you record the sound for us? I just went outside and recorded my 3100, though my engine was warm when I started it up.
  6. That'd be great! I sent the guy an offer for that lamp, it's the exact one I need.
  7. I've been working on restoring my '96 SE, and I have come up with a list of items that I still need. If I find an item myself that's on this list I will mark it off, but unless otherwise stated let me know if you have any of the following items. I may update this list with more as time goes on. Exterior: Driver's side Grille NOS or good condition taillight assemblies for a grand prix coupe Interior (my car has a light gray interior with cloth seats): NOS or good condition sun visors Drivers side lock and window control piece Rear Speaker covers rear passenger's side maplight assembly (I don't need the interior piece it goes into, just a working socket) Driver's side bottom door trim piece If you have any of these, let me know. I'll greatly appreciate it.
  8. I am 99% sure the Cutlass had identical interiors between 1994/95 and 1997.
  9. Didn't we find out through some convoluted way that there were 7 or so lq1 luminas produced in '97?
  10. Iirc they got the lq1 until about halfway through 1997.
  11. How many 1.5 gen luminas got the LQ1?
  12. "3.1L V6 OHV 12V TURBO" Oh no
  13. Does the Regal GS have a lot of incompatible parts with the Grand Prix or does everybody just say to get the parts from a GTP because that guarantees a supercharged 3800?
  14. I let him know I have it. The only downside is he's in Canada so shipping might be really expensive. Edit: Dammit I just saw that you PM'd him too. At least he's definitely gonna see this now.
  15. Thanks for letting me know! I think pinging him will give him a notification. @55trucker
  16. I have a front strut tower bar I took out of a '94 LQ1 Cutlass vert. $25 plus shipping and it's yours.
  17. Wow! Thanks for letting us know, keep us updated if you find anything!
  18. I thought I remembered somebody asked about a strut bar. I got one just like that one from my runs to the junkyard. Are you still interested in getting one?
  19. I'll just make a wanted post asking if anyone has an extra set of basketweave rims they don't need. Also I want to know what they are smoking to think $80 a wheel is a fair price.
  20. I forgot to mention 2 things. 1. They didn't have the basketweave rims from the grand prix in stock at pick n pull 2. They might have gotten in an aztek recently. I saw a red one in the area where they keep cars that they are waiting to put into the yard, but it's always possible it was an employee's car since it was in the far back by itself.
  21. Those tail lights are in insanely good condition. Makes me jealous as my 98 has issues with water leaking into the assembly. Also I took pictures of the cutlass's interior. Poor thing, might have been worth saving. Both the cutlass and grand prix had their drivers side rear seat ripped upwards. Somebody was looking for something very specific I guess.
  22. At the junkyard now, here's what I've taken off so far
  23. Yep, it just so happens to be a '94. If its still there Ill grab it for you. Also, yes I want to keep OBD2. That's another one of the reasons I wasn't so sure about using this as a donor car.
  24. It has a factory cassette player. I don't recall if it had that cupholder and I didn't take an interior picture. However, I did take a picture of the rear. I recall the other tail light being in similar shape to the one in the picture. I tried taking the strut bar off but I stopped when I risked stripping the nuts. Edit: Well I am going back tomorrow. As it turns out, the Grand Prix DOES have something I want. I want those basketweave wheels, they weren't with the car but I doubt somebody took them in the 2 weeks they've been there. They should require 245/50 tires right? Shame I won't be able to use my month old sumitomos on them but I can hold onto them until I need new tires. I can't tell if they are the gold or silver ones though, @ManicMechanic does the vin let you know? Vin is 1G2WJ12M8SF210668, I'm curious to know how rare it is too.
  25. PM'd I forgot to mention, @jiggity76 I remembered you asked for that spark plug wire clip and while it's still there, you can see in the picture that it's sadly broken.
