There are various designs...plastic or steel.......seeing as you don't intend on getting into this sort of repair again I'd suggest just picking up the plastic set, you should be able to find them at Harbor Freight. The inlet (pressure side) is 3/8 as for a gas can..really up to you..pick up a pair of containers that will hold a total of 15 gals?

Lifting the car isn't an option so I'll run out to gab the device. Thanks. Any idea what size clear tub would work? Don't have any spare garden hose to sacrifice.

This is the only device that will separate the fuel line from the rail.... there is another method you might try.... raise the car up high enough to get under comfortably & disconnect the fuel filter from the fuel line (one end of the filter makes used of threaded connection , the other end is the same ac/fuel line quick disconnect slip-on connection). Once again run a length of hose long enough to clear the car & fill a gas container to drain the tank.
-
Can i make due without this specialized tool? Don't want to buy something for what might be one time.

The fuel lines that feed the fuel rail are not screw on nut fittings, both the pressure & the return are disconnected with a set of fuel line/ac disconnect tools. The pressure line is near the centre at the back of the engine. One pulls off the engine cover & you'll see the fuel rail. Once you've disconnected the line you'll need a lengthy section of garden hose to slip over the fuel line end & tape it up to prevent any leaking & feed it into a container size of your choosing. Now you can bypass the relay to power up the fuel pump to drain the tank.

there should be a loose red wire near the relay jump that to the positive post and it should turn the fuel pump on

Thanks will do that. This looks to be the relay that I can access under the hood as well. Which pins should I jump?

Does the pump run? If it does, unhook a fuel line under the hood and jump the fuel pump relay.
-
What's the easiest way to drain a full tank from the 95 Regal? Can I just get a tube in from the gas cap or is there anti siphoning? Would like to get as much out as possible without lifting or getting under the car. Thanks.

Like how much torque should be applied to a lug nut? Or what year did GM release the first w-body? Maybe a much of bunch of questions. -

Hi guys, I'm still alive and well and still have dome light switches! The site used to send me an email when someone posted on this thread, not sure if that doesn't work anymore? My direct email is mezz@benris.com if anyone else is still looking or switches.

I think I found what I needed to online. I believe that the speaker mounts will fit in my doors. I have seen some conflicting posts on this site about whether the coupe doors are pre-wired for speakers. Does anyone know for sure?

That sounds about right. The SL was the top tier cutlass trim in 1996, but GM being GM....you could spec up a base model to be more loaded than the top trim level, or you could delete enough from an upper level trim to make it less equipped than a base. In some cases, features exist on some vehicles that don't even show as being available for that make/model/trim/year combo. I think it got slightly better as the years progressed....but it still exists to some extent today. -

Interesting. Oldsmobile always had some unique ways of going about option combinations and designations. Thank you ps The ABS light has gone out but did come back on. A scan and physical check at the shop comes up everything is ok. Has been some very low temps and a recent snow storm where I am, for now I'm going hold off on any replacement as it may be just weather related. -

I think in 1996 it was just Base and SL on the Cutlass Supreme. But admittedly I'm no expert on that. Cutlass trim was odd there were higher tier ones that were oddly stripped and base ones that were oddly loaded. Generally speaking it meant leather, sunroof, dual zone electronic climate control, and variable assist power steering. Sometimes you'd get the 3.4 DOHC v6. Someone else will correct me, I'm sure. -

Yes, pardon. So there was a base and SL level trim, or was anything above base a SL? Sorry for the added questions, just trying to learn more about the car. -

You mean SL? It's just a trim level. -
