  1. I've had a couple PMs about this topic over this spring and summer. Since most convertible owners are getting the cars out of the garages. This was a new piece of NOS weather stripping about a year ago. They just don't last. So save your money and don't buy those E-bay NOS convertible weather strips. Figured I'd show how to fix this problem and give a lot of info on the way. I know this has been done before. No one has really done a complete write up on it. These are 1993+ Camaro/Firebird front window weather strips. You can buy these new or pull them at a local yard. There are several clips that hold these in place. Just put a flat screw driver down in between the window and the door and pry up. They should come off really easy. I paid 3 dollars for TWO of these at the local yard. You have plenty of material to do the job. There are clips that used to hold it onto the F-body car. I removed these so they weren't in the way. I took a flat head screwdriver and pried up on them and they came off. There are six rivets on this piece of weather stripping. I drilled them out to remove what they were holding. There are three of those metal bars on the back of the weather stripping. I removed so they would not be in the way of the window. You will need to remove the B pillar trim. It's about 6 screws. Have junk in the trunk? Remove it. To remove the piece of trim below the weather stripping, you will need to go in the trunk. There are three 9mm nuts that attach it to the car. The last one is a stretch. Once that is off you have a much better look at what your dealing with. You will need to drill out those rivets. Roll down the window! You do not want to let the drill bit hit the glass. I tossed in a rag in between the window and rivet. Raining outside. Tossed it up were it needs to go. The length of the factory weather stripping. Measure twice and mark your mark twice. Then drill once. Make sure it's in the right spot. You can see I have some rubber remaining in my drilled holes. I made sure I cleaned that out before I installed. That way you have a really nice fit and finish. Time for the pop rivet gun! Then pop in your new rivets. Now it's time to put the B pillar and trim back on. Old piece. New piece. And enjoy your new clean weather stripping. It looks a lot better than the old stuff.

  5. Hello everyone, new to here but been around the turbo buick world for awhile. Anyways I need some help getting info. I'm putting a 94 3800 supercharged engine in a 92 cutlass supreme coupe sl. I'm using the engine harness and computer from a 92 regal coupe with a n/a 3.8 to run it with a tuned chip. but I need the pinout for the c100 connector for the 92 regal and the 92 cutlass to get everything working. If someone has this info it would be greatly appreciated. I tried going to a local buick shop to get it but they wouldn't hand out the information.
  6. Does anyone near me have a scan tool capable of getting 95 Buick ECM codes? I have been struggling with a check engine light for a while now, and now that spring is upon us, I would like it fixed for summer driving. The car is a 95 Buick Regal with a 3800. A few hundred miles ago, I started getting a SES light that comes and goes. At the time, it seemed random. At one point, I replaced a cracked EGR connector and thought that fixed it, only to get it again a couple weeks later. I have no idea what difference that made, but it did make it stop for around 10 days - maybe just a coincidence. It has started happening more and more often since then. Now it lights up every time the engine reaches operating temperatures without fail. Here is how it goes: At start-up, the light is on if it was on the last time the car ran. The light turns off during warm-up. The light comes back up a few miles away, right around the time the engine warms up. I imagine it is around the time it tries to go into closed loop. I am wondering if I am running in open loop full time because of this. I have replaced the oxygen sensor not too long ago (with a new bosch one). I have also replaced the EGR valve and connector (not new, but made no difference). I just replaced the TPS this morning and its connector because a couple of times I have gotten a sudden high idle in the past. Had no effect on the SES light. I would prefer not just switching out sensors till it is fixed, although with the fun OBD 1.5, that is a real possibility for me. I did try to use tunerpro to get some data from the computer, but this is the first time I have ever used it and so far I get some data, but it is erratic enough to call random. For the connection, I used RobertISaar's suggestion from another form for the USB cable. Like I said, not really an expert in tunerpro and have never tuned an EFI system before so I am not looking to do that, I just thought it would be an inexpensive alternative to getting raped by the local shops just to pull codes. I used the A and M pins for the connection. Only one other pin is used and I do not believe it has anything to do with the ECM. Now that your eyes hurt from reading my long post, does anyone around here have a tool capable of pulling codes from these cars? Comments and suggestions are also welcome. Thank you, Miller
  7. Hi everyone I'm new here. This is my second lumina my old one was a 96 ls. Now I have a 95 base and I want the tach back. My local jy doesn't have any but my friend has a police cluster. I've been reading the posts and I was looking for a pinout so I can hook the vss, power, and ground or were to solder it to the board but everywhere I look at the pictures are gone. Also my friend can't remember what year it came out of so I might have a fuel problem if I do is there anyway to get it to work.
  8. Hi all. A friend of a friend needs her input shaft replaced, or so I gather. The car stopped accelerating on the highway, she pulled over, and the engine revs but the car won't move. She had it towed to the local stealership, and they told her "it needs a new pipe that connects the engine to the transmission" They want a pretty decent chunk of change to fix it. She has relayed a request for me to fix it for her cheaper. What's the consensus? What is easier/cheaper/better? New input shaft or just replace the entire trans?

  10. ALright guys its offical, i have begun the swap, i will be posting a tonne of pics of the progress for your watching pleasure. im im doing this in my driveway for the time being and will pull the engine at a local gm dealership that has agreed to let me use their shop over a weekend anyways for starters, even when doing this yourself if you ever decide to do it, take alot of pictures, its will help refresh your memory on re assembly if required. Start of the swap, there is a few options, either you can pull the engine first or tackle the dash, or if you have help, you can have one on each. i decided to start on the interior. its pretty basic but time consuming, a 7mm, 10mm, extentions and 13mm are your best friends. im not going to get into details as the pics say enough for the interior, but for other stuff more details will be had to make things easier on yourself label all the connections like i am doing. im about an hour into the interior and here is my progress
  11. I've checked with local yards, but they don't have cars like mine, except if I were to drive over 50 miles from here. If anyone lives near a junkyard, I would appreciate the following. 1. All the bolts that hold the cross brackets from the fenders to the radiator core support. 2. All the fasteners that hold the washer tank in. 3. The two nuts that hold the non-power antenna in. I will pay $5 labor plus whatever the hardware costs plus $6 to ship them in a flat rate box. I've checked the hardware stores here too and they don't have anything close.
  12. Anyone use them for car parts? I didn't even realise the amount of shit they carry. They are usually about the same price as Rock Auto but with the prime membership I get stuff shipped free in 2 days. I kind of hate not supporting my local parts stores, but when I find myself getting stuff online for 40-70% off their prices, it's hard not to.
  13. Not even gonna bother giving a back story. Do the 4T60E trans on the 3100 interchange with the ones on the 3.4 TDC/DOHC? If not, what changes? What will be the worst that happens if I do a swap like this? I only ask because most cars in my local have the 3100. Also can a 96 trans go in a 94?
  14. So my GP never came with a rear license plate socket and I finally got pulled over for "having a bulb out." I gotta take care of this quick since its a local cop who patrols my neighborhood all the time. Where can I find the two wires to connect the new socket to? I've read multiple different answers on google and I just need to know where they are on a 95 GP. Actually has anyone done this before? A step by step would be awesome hahah.
  15. Hello, my name is Kevin. I just picked up a 93 Cutlass Supreme 'vert with the DOHC 2.4 for my wife. I traded my much loved hot rod Whizzer even up for it. I never thought I would trade a bicycle for a car, not to mention one as cool as the Cutlass. I live in Northern Indiana, for our climate the car isn't in too bad of shape. It does need some attention, but nothing a little love, labor and money can't fix. (I just wish it took more love and labor than $$$$). My better half runs the body shop parts department at our local GM dealership. I have always been a tinkerer. I was raised around a body shop. My older brother ran a very successful body shop for 30+ years. My hobbies are building motorized bicycles, custom bicycles, 1/5 scale radio control vehicles and building toys with motors for our 4 daughters. I am actively involved on many fifth scale rc forums and have been for years I most always use highwaystar as my username. I have met many great friends on the various forums I belong to, I hope to do the same here. I look forward to getting to know you guys and learning the ins and outs of these cars as things come up. Hopefully I will be able to help some of you guys sometime. Here is the Cutlass: And the Whizzer:
  16. Has anyone ever tried to upgrade the 4T60E to a 4T65E while keeping the twin cam? I ask because of my issues with my 60 have been brought to the conclusion that I need a trans rebuild, but the fuckers in my area want $2000 for a build... so while the 60 is hard to find in my local yards, the 65 is as common as the "Smith" last name. So I came to wonder... can it be done with a twin cam on a 1G using the same way people do it when they upgrade to a 3800? As always, help is appreciated.

    Fender problems

Some please help! I recently purchased a red 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass supreme convertible with 236k on the odometer. The problem that I am having is that when I purchased the car it had a damaged passenger side front fender, not knowing I removed and discarded the damaged fender and purchased a fender for a 4 door Cutlass supreme thinking that it would fit, but they are different. Is there any way that I can modify the fender that I have now to work with my convertible. The car has great potential, the drive train and power train are in good shape. I'm in California and all of the salvage yards that have the part are not local and I cant afford to pay $75-$150 for the fender and roughly $300 to have it shipped and right now this is my only means of transportation. Is there anyone out there with knowledge about my issues that can help me come up with a solution? Please help!!!!!
  18. I was browsing my local yard and came across a olds 98 Regency and since I hardly see them i figured id check it out and noticed a DIS which looks exactly like the one in a cutlass, so taking a gamble i buy it. Searching the forum I find out that it will work and bolt in just fine, but looking at a thread there are different software versions for different motors? http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/1440-Driver-Information-System-install-in-an-88-CS/page2?highlight=drivers+information+system Is there any way to update the software version so it will display the right information as far as diagnostics and all for a 93 DOHC motor? This is for my 93 cutlass convertible with the 3.4.

  20. Local parts shop has a couple cans of white engine paint on for $1 each on close-out. Fuel tank has to come out to replace the pump (weak check valve/excessive pressure bleed-off), and has a little bit of surface rust on it. Any harm in painting it?
  21. So i went to my local JY and they happen to have a set of 95 BMW 325i headlights laying around so i picked up the passenger side for now (only 35$) and have started doing the swap and i can say its more then i thought it would be but its not difficult and it looks sexy

    Z34 parts

so i was at my local junkyard today and they just happen to have a red Z34 in there. it pretty complete and in over all ok shape. so i was wondering if there were any parts i should grab off of it for 3.4 Euro? also i was wondering if some of the body parts will fit on my sedan? specifically the front and rear bumpers and the hood. I'm pretty sure i have seen the hood done before but never the bumpers. any input on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks

  24. Hey guys, I've been taking leaps and bounds ahead with my car, so I'm starting to plan a pulley drop now. I'm kind of up in the air with which size though. I have Gen V supercharger, so from what I've ready the upgrade of going from a Gen III to a Gen V is like a 0.2 inch pulley drop in itself. For example: Gen III w\3.6 inch pulley=Gen V w\3.8 inch pulley, Gen III w\3.2-Gen V w\3.2, etc. When I ran an HAI, stock exhaust, and stock tune, I very rarely had 1 degree of knock retard. I now have SD headers, the same HAI, and still have a stock tune and since installing the header I haven't seen any Kr at all. I will be getting a tune before the pulley drop, I'm not too sure who to go with and there is NO ONE even remotely local to tune it in the car. So, I'll have to with a canned tune of some sorts...Anyone recommend a box tune? Also, I'm up in the air on which pulley I should go with, a 3.4, 3.5, or 3.6? I'm wondering if I could get away with a 3.4 without any intercooler. Thanks guys!
