I haven't been here in awhile. I have a 96 gtp with a heavily modded top swapped l36. I still have a stock 4t65e hd that's crapping out. I'm gonna build a good trans soon but I have a 4t65e from a 99 lesabre that I put an hd diff in to get me by until I get my good trans done. Does anyone know the FDR in this trans or how to find it. I need to know for tuning. The car still drives but first is weak. Need to do something before I'm stranded.

did you swap engines from a 97+ Grand Prix or is it really a 97+?? If it's really a 96 then you have a 4t60e in it and not a 4t65e hd.

A 99 lesabre will have either a 2.86 in it or a 3.05 if it has the sportier suspension(f41?). However, swapping differentials will change your FDR in these transmissions to a higher one.

It is a 4t65 from from a 2000 gtp. The car was originally a 3.4 with a 4t60. All long gone now. I was under the impression that a diff change does not effect FDR considering that is not where the drive gear is located. My stock ratio is 2.93.

the FDR is determined by a combination of the drive chain and the differential.

I'm not sure whether the different ratios in the lesabre are obtained through the use of different chains or differentials, but if the difference in their ratios is because they have different differentials,, then putting in the hd differential would change the FDR to 3.29

99 lesabre = 9YFB or 9TNB

9YFB = 2.86 diff, 35/35 chain

9TNB = 3.05 diff, 35/35 chain

2000 grand prix GTP = 0XAB/0XBB = 3.29 diff, 37/33 chain, makes 2.93 total.

Makes sense. Thanks.
