Trans Pressure Control Solenoid Replacement - Side Cover

hi,

I recently purchased my second W-body. I first owned a 89 olds cutlass supreme, which I drove for 7 years before selling.

I now have purchased a 98 Olds Intrigue with a 3.8L V-6.

I need to replace the transmission pressure control solenoid in the transmission. To do so, I need to remove the side cover from transmission. Anyone who has replaced either the pressure control solenoid or any of the shift solenoids in a 4T60-E or 4T65-E, can you get to these with completely removing the side cover? IE can you pull it back far enough to get to the solenoids without completely removing the cover. If not, do you need to drop the engine cradle to remove the side cover?

Any helpful tips or tricks anyone konws would be great.

-Michael
