Heza Posted August 20, 2003 Report Share Posted August 20, 2003 ok, i need some serious opinions here...PLEASE! my car has 51k miles on it and has had regular oil changes through it's entire life (have all records). however, i'm slowly losing oil. i don't see any leakage anywhere and no fun blue clouds out the tail pipes. i use valvoline 5w-30 and fram extra-guard oil filters. yes, fram, cuz i've never had a problem with their filters on my old civic or my cobra mustang. could i possibly have a bad oil ring on a piston somewhere already? i don't piss pound my car on a daily basis. i auto-x maybe twice a year. 91GranSport Posted August 20, 2003 Report Share Posted August 20, 2003 Funny, I have the 3800 TPI V-6 with 185,000km and I use perhaps 500ml for every 5,000km. I use Valvoline MaxLife 10W30 in the summer and Motomaster Formula 1 0W30 in the winter. I always thought the more mileage the more oil consumption. Heza Posted August 21, 2003 Author Report Share Posted August 21, 2003 no blue. i just changed my oil today again and am gonna let it flow and see what happens. still 5w-30, but using an STP filter instead. also, why does it look like oil is going through the PCV valve? is it supposed to?
