Having some spare time on my hands today I decited to do the I/C mod removing the fins from the A/C condensor....time consuming but worth it. 8)

I also did the throttle body heater bypass mod listed @ http://www.v6z24.com/mods/howto/?page=heaterbypass. The hose cost $10.00. 8) 8)

The total time for both of these mods and verifying there were no leaks was 3 hours.

Although I did not have my "G-tech" hooked up to verify any proven HP gains my "but dyno" can definately feel the differance. :D I can also feel the diferance in how cooler my throttle body and upper intake are after getting up to operating temps. (180 degrees for me).

I recommend these realitevely easy and low cost mods to all TGP / STE owners. I'll keep you posted in the next few weeks to see if there are any changes in MPG, or if unforeseen troubles arise.

P.S. there are pictures and write ups on bith of these mods @ the http://www.v6z24.com and Turbo Grand Prix Garage http://home.att.net/~aldridgec/. :peace:

I have been considering by-passing the throttle body heater on my car. I have already the p/n 10115742 with for a month now but don't have time yet.

With regards to removing the fins on your condenser. I thought the fins on the condenser and radiator is designed to carry the heat away and so it easily cools down much like a a heat sink on many ICs having fins sticking out to carry away the heat and get cooled down quickly. Or there might be other explanation...

The fins purpose on a radiator, I/C, Condenser, etc are to give more surface area to wick away the heat...yes. The only reason for the A/C Condenser fin removal is to allow a less restricted flow of air to pass over the intercooler. I had absolutely no change in the A/C cooling ability when I removed these fins on my...I mean Luke's TGP. The difference in the intercoolers ability to cool the charged air was very obvious... 8)
