I am dying to convert my car to a console shift... obviously, I have column shift now in a '94 GP. If anyone has the time to jot down the directions to this task, I'd much appreciate it. It's something I want to do, but I wanna know what's going to be involved before I just tear into my car.. she's my daily driver and I can't have 'er out of commission for too long. Oh also, what parts am I going to need to get from the donor car?

I've done it--a few times.

You will need (from a 94 or newer car would be best):

-Shifter

-Shift cable

-Center console

-Maybe seats

-Maybe lockout soleniod

-New column (unless you want to just plug the hole the old shifter will leave)

Just remove yor old shifter and cable from the column. Install your new console and shifter. Drill hole in the foller for the shifter cable to go through (there is an outline/knock out where the hole should be). Run the new cable to the transmission. You can install the lockout soleniod if you don't want it to be able to shift with the car off. There are other things to it, but thats the basic install. Check out the 5 speed / turbo swap article on my site for pics (they are for the 5 speed, but the idea is the same).
