Because of the expectations that go hand in hand in passing emissions exhaust shops don't generally *clamp* a cat into place, they will weld it to guarantee no leaks with their work.

a Magnaflow 94000 universal series piece, not because I push them but they have an extensive selection to choose from, and they are reasonably priced. Don't worry about the paint, everyone knows white cars from that era had bad paint. The 274,000 miles is very impressive! One of the highest mileage cars on here. I hope it makes it to 300k. We'd be interested to hear what you had to fix/replace in the last 150k. Is it still running? You said it needed "some repairs".
