I have the dimmer all the way up they dim nicely

Are they a lot brighter and more distracting than the older bulbs? This is really cool but that's the one thing I'd be concerned about, especially when driving at night.

It'll still have steering assist, that's just "power steering". The Magnasteer will be gone, which increases or decreases steering effort based on vehicle speed and makes it "tight and sporty" at speed, and "loose and easy to turn" in parking lots. If you simply nip the leads on a 1k resistor and plug it into the plug (tape and insulate) the car shouldn't know the coil in the rack is gone. That's if it does any error reporting at all.

You should just swap the subframe. Making a weld here or there may fix this break but if one broke the rest are soon to follow. I've replaced the subframe on my 04 GP three times now and it really wasn't that bad and then you can at least put your faith into your car again. I found my sub frames from junkyards, I know you said most are smashed at your cars age but there is so many of these out there I would be willing to bet you can find one if you really look. See if any other makes or models carried the same frame as well. I payed 30$ for my subframe from the junkyard so this could really be your best money option. To replace the frame you need a engine lift of some sort though. I used a engine support bar lift from harbor freight, was a cheap purchase and has come in handy many of times.

It will likely pop up a message on the display and you won't have any steering assist, but it should be the same otherwise from what I recall.

Wow... he literally pulled off the pipe, saw that, and just stopped without prodding one bit. Even though the manager made it right this time, I'd be real hesitant to go back there if I were you.
