    These are great illustrations Manic. Thanks for posting them. Looks like they assigned individuals by name to fabricate different support pieces. In the back of the 1991 CS Service Manual Vol 2, there is a section which shows all of the reinforcements added to the coupes to make them convertibles. I counted 30 diagrams and each diagram appears to show a different support brace and it’s location on the car. I’d post all of them in a separate link, but my manual looks like termites got in it and the entire section of the manual is damaged. If someone could post up the diagrams in the Vert section that would be great. Here are just some of the diagrams. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Top Raising.

    Not sure if anyone has done this. What if you disconnected the cylinders from the top all together, then stood on the back seat and manually lifted the top from the center of the header bow. If the top frame was binding on the passengers side, you'd be able to feel it. If it feels even on both sides you know the issue is with the hydraulic system.

    How uneven does it raise? I have one side about a 1/4 sec slower than the other side.
  5. I like them just fine, but I've never experienced 300s so I don't know. They don't seem harsh or jarring at all and they daily just fine. I'll be lowering my CS coupe soon and am pondering if the weight difference between the coupe and vert warrants a different spring rate. I was recommended the 250lb rate from George, which is what he used on his vert.

    Ahhh, that's where your name comes from! How many people in Gabs have seen a Cutlass convertible before? And I see your "new" top! I don't know if I'd seen it before. That blue and white look so good together!
  7. Okay, that helps. I installed coil overs strictly to lower it. I'm not educated in the performance advantages of putting coil overs on w-bodys so I'm no help there. I chose to remove my monoleaf at the recommendation of others who installed coil overs before me. It's thought that some lateral stability could be lost when you remove the monoleaf, which makes sense to me, but I don't do any hard cornering in my vert so I can't say for sure. Installing rear coil overs are really straight forward. The parts list and pricing is here:
  8. It depends on what you want to do. Because our cars are so old, "upgrade" might mean just replacing worn components. If you're just looking for a comfortable ride, the stock setup is a great option. I'd start with new struts all around and go from there. If you want coil overs because you want to lower it, that's a different story. I have coil overs in the rear and cut donor springs in the front. The ride isn't as smooth as the stock setup, but it's certainly daily driver material.

    I'm very interested in this. I've never been to a GoodGuys show, but heard good things. My wife loves Nashville too. It's a 3.5 hour drive so I'd plan on bringing both cars. I'm all in for the most central location as possible too. Let's see who all responds.

  14. I'm guessing I'm behind the times, but I'm just now finding the cool wheel visualizers available online these days. Not sure how long this has been around, but when I bought my wheels for my vert back in 2010, no site had the ability to visualize wheels on your car with a pic you uploaded. I'm exploring what wheels might look nice on the coupe, and I uploaded one of the vert to play too. Gold rims kinda look nice on the vert. The one thing that's readily apparent is that I'm really struggling with not wanting to lower my coupe like I did the just sits really high. The angle of the car for the pic has to be from the front quarter, car level, with the steering wheel turned one complete turn...then the wheels can be sized to your pic. You'll notice the coupe pic is flipped because it has to be taken from the passengers side. It's really slick. Once you get the sizing right, it's just a matter of clicking on wheels you're interested in and they appear on your pic. Here's some I was looking at.

    Yep, I bought my vert wheels from tirerack and had to use a blue CS coupe to help visualize. The didn't have green as an option lol.

    Yeah, I knew the GP piece was thinner, but not sure if the GP roof line would necessitate the piece being shorter than the CS.

    Wish I would've known. I would've gladly swapped you the one from my vert (which was perfect) with the one from your International. I've since SEM painted my shifter black to go with the rest of the theme I've got going in there. I could've just as easily painted yours to use in my vert.

    Thanks so much for showing us this. If the Regal one was bigger, I could fix that lol, but unfortunately it's the other way around. I know you're a stock guy, and I am too in a lot of ways. But I'd rather have a smooth piece than the louvered one that came on the Cutlass. I wonder if one off of the Grand Prix would be any closer to the Cutlass one? What about the Lumina? Hmmmm.

    I still have the SSR mirror, which comes with leads for auto-dim drivers side mirror. I always thought an auto-dim drivers side mirror would be nice in the vert as long as I could use the original housing.

    The displays in the compass mirrors are colored by a colored piece of plastic that sticks to the display. Manic sold me the mirror in my vert, which originally came from an 02-05 Sebring, with an amber display. He replaced the amber plastic with green plastic before he sent it to me. If you could find a translucent red piece of plastic...
