A local Fab shop took my car and boxed in and welded both of the trailing arm mounts a couple of years ago.

it was a couple hundred bucks and I didn't have to do it myself for a change.

No, they welded mine into the patchwork. There was a post a while back by l67ss where he was discussing second gen mounts in a first gen. From what has been said in the past here it wouldn't be a problem to do them, be interesting trying to bolt them but maybe you can make an adjustable feature to it so you can put them wherever you want on the bright side

On Richs 95 GP, Chris chopped the trailing arm mount sections out of the unibody of his wrecked black TGP, and then I drilled the spot welds out of the U shaped unibody pieces, and Jamie and I sectioned them into Rich's car, fishplating it on either side for added strength. Fully welded and seam sealed

$200 is cheap for that work

Very interesting. This is the worst part on my GTP. I went to put the rear jack stands on and the mounts are toast. I dont remember them being so bad. I checked my other GTP parts car and basically the same thing. If adding the 2nd gen will allow me to bolt it in, that is the way to go for me. I'm not sure why you would want them to be adjustable? Matt, bring the boys over. I dont have a welder. I have been pointed to a shop that does this and waiting to hear back. After being boxed in, can you still put jack stands under and safely keep the car up?

I said adjustable so it wouldn't be hard to tweak it if it was off a tad, that's what I figured I'd do if I ever did this.

My jackstands fit right in front of the mounts on what I'd loosely term "frame" but I opt for the spot where the trailing arm meets the rear spindle for stands unless I'm doing suspension work because that area is always such a problem with integrity.

Yeah, I love those guys, their sign is a rocket welded out of old barrels and the guy I always talk to seems to have pizza grease stains on his shirt every time I see him but they do good work cheap.

You jinxed me, I want under my car to take a picture and it's broken again on the left side. I'm going to order a 2nd gen mount tonight and I already talked to the cat at the Fab shop about welding it in next week.

In all honesty, I was kidding. I know everyone is busy these days. We all are. I still haven't heard back from the shop so looking to reach out for advice. I will see what Jamie is up to lol.

Sorry, but thank me for saving your life. Did you get pics? I'd like to see both and if you ever get the 2nd gen mount on too.

I have my doubts about 2g ones working out since you'd still need a solid base to weld to.

To me, in any rate you either need sections of good frame rail or custom fabricate it, neither of which are easy.

I could be wrong, hell I hope I'm wrong.

My idea on the mounts involved welding in plate steel first if rusted then plug welding the mounts in place using the bolt holes on the mount. Then run a bead around the edge. Would be a possibility that it'd cause a slight change in angle depending on thickness of plate steel used but thatd actually be a bonus as you want them as close to parallel to the ground as possible
