When I started my 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix up last week and went to shift it, the release button wouldn't push in, I tried to get it loose for a long time and eventually it came loose and I was able to take the console out and I saw that the electrical plug to the interlock solenoid wasn't plugged in do I figured that was the problem, but then later in the day I went to test it and it was locked up again, also when I put the key in the position of where it lets you shift without applying the brakes it still wouldn't shift. The brake lights still work.

Sometimes as you can see at the end of the video, if you push that solenoid to the right it will all of a sudden start working again

At this point I don't know what is going on with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a `99 GTP with a similar issue, the wire going to the release button next to the shift lever was damaged further up. Not sure if the 95`s had that button though.
