TGP Trans issue

I would have to say yes to that question, but I'm not positive. I never took it apart to verify the actual problem. I still have the video of the whole repair, but I guess I just got sick & tired of the POS. All I can tell you is the same thing the shop manual says, its either the pump or something straining the pump. but sure sounds easier to just change it. Let me know what you find, I'll just fix mine up and sell it.

That does sound like the pump is bad with it whining whether it's in park or in gear. If I were pulling the trans to replace the pump, I would tear the entire thing down and replace parts as necessary. It'd be a pain in the ass to pull it for just a pump and THEN find out you have other issues.

is this one different than the one that might have a broken band in it? that chatters when it slips.

I imagine it might even get confusing with as many as you own.

Sadly yes it is a different one lol. One thing you can always rely on Turbo Grand Prixs is shit breaking or already broken lol. My 90 TSTE in white needs the clutch band. This is one is one of the pair i bought from Dayton, OH a while back. Drove ok till halfway home and then wooo! Trans issues lol go figure. Well i got them cheap so i don't care. Was gonna make this one the DD but yeah another project go figure.

Also not to mention in order transmission related projects in order lol.

1989 TGP Black (transmission total KO)

1990 TSTE White (clutch band issue)

1990 TGP Red (transmission pump)

So yay!
