Tip: PS Pumps

When it comes time to replace your PS pump, before bolting in the new pump, compare the pressure port fittings on both the old and new pumps. If they're different, swap the fittings; keep the one that originally came with the car.

I have been fighting a leaking pressure port for the past 4 months and three different new pumps. Until I got a hold of a Delco rebuild, which included a sheet instructing me to compare the fittings, I had no idea that there was a difference.

The two previous leaking pumps had pressure port fittings that had chamfers at the o-ring sealing area. The o-rings seals would get cut every time. The latest one had a RADIUS instead of the chamfer. So far, so good.

So, before swaping pumps, take a look. You might have to swap pressure port fitting too.

Now this begs the question: Are the different hose ends for each type of fitting? I'm not going there.....
