Transition to new forum software complete, post bugs and problems here

Hey Everyone

 

We have been testing out new forum software for a while, and now that I have a free week, I am planning to start the transition process.

During this process, the forum will not be available. Everything will be backed up and removed from the server and the new software installed with the existing database information imported in to it. After the new forum is running, we plan to restructure the categories a little bit to assist in organization and to make finding information easier.

 

User feedback on the new system will be important to us so we can design it to be easier for our users to utilize. Please let us know what would make it better for you.

Also, I looked at some of my past posts, and I noticed that paragraphs had been condensed into a wall of text, and I do not write like that because it is annoying to read.

i can't seem to figure out how to turn off email notifications for every reply to a thread I'm subscribed to without completely disabling the subscription?

Tried to upload a couple pictures as attachments but got an 'Upload failed' error on both my desktop (Mac OS X machine) and iPhone (using the mobile site).  Didn't try my Win7 lappy to see if it behaved any different.  The Mac's running the latest version of Firefox (I have Chrome but didn't try it), iPhone's running the latest greatest iOS/Safari.  Wound up tossing them on my webserver and using the Image button to put them in with their respective URLs which put the images in just fine.  Not sure if it was user error of if something else is going on.

I have that problem making new replies from the mobile version.

 

This sentence I typed 2 lines down from the previous line in the reply box, but it's showing as one block of text from my view when I submit it.

 

This one is another 2 lines down. Is it showing correctly for the people reading it? I can see individual paragraphs from other posters..

Your last reply is showing all as one paragraph. I noticed the "one block of text" issue with some of my old posts as well.

 

My sig had the same problem. The list of cars was originally on 2 lines, but it did not transfer over that way to the updated site.  Had to bring everything up to 1 line again, and hit return where I wanted the next line to start.

I'd like to see a "new posts" button & "mark all read" button. Otherwise just had to reset my PW too.

Both those features are present in the mobile version... There is a box in the upper right hand corner that has 4 small squares in it. When you click that both those options are present near the bottom of the menu.

 

I havent had a chance to try out the full site though.

On the full version, there should be a "View New Content" button towards the upper right hand corner.  That covers all the new posts.  When you go into each forum on the board, there should be a "Mark this forum as read" button, and when you're on the home page of the message boards, there is a "Mark Community Read" link at the very bottom towards the left. Had to dig around a bit to find that one.

I had to reset my password to gey in and the "view new posts" thing is wonky. It's not realtime based and it won't take you to the new post.

I just noticed mine looks messed up. First time I've logged in since the transition. I'll attempt to fix it later. Browsing via ipad at the moment so I doubt it's worth trying to fix it right now.

My tapatalk app keeps showing like I have notifications, I think for unread PMs, but there's no where on the app or on the website to mark them all read. Or I'm an R-tard and missed it

it doesn't seem to be possible to paste anything into the message box? or is it just me? was attempting to post youtube link in the music thread, plain text doesn't seem to be "pasteable" either.

Use keyboard shortcut.  For some reason it sees this quick reply box as a iframe or something at least in Firefox.

Ctrl + V isn't doing the trick either....

 

the "link" button basically locked up the page...

 

the "paste", "paste as plain text" buttons make no difference...

 

I need to see if it's any different on the desktop w/firefox, but no go with IE11.
