PanamaZ34 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Share Posted June 18, 2009 Looking at the pictures posted in a number of threads, all Z34s seem to have a large expansion tank. My '94 project car has a smaller one, as seen in a number of pics of standard 3.1L Luminas. Is this simply a model year (or standardisation) change made by GM or has someone botched a replacement (the tank on it at the moment has some pretty impressive damage where something has hit it and melted the plastic almost all the way through, so it is possible that it was a replacement). I'm also missing the bracing strut on that side of the engine bay, so cannot tell whether it had the cutaway for the additional expansion tank mounting. If it is a botch job, do I need the original expansion tank (I certainly don't want to take any short-cuts with the cooling system in this heat!)?
