JPaganel
I was taking out the coolant tube that runs from the water pump housing across the front of the engine and I broke one of the bolts that holds it down... Any ideas? I've never tried to take a broken steel bolt out of aluminum before...
GnatGoSplat
Hmmm, those are really small bolts, you might have a helluva time getting those out. I could only recommend carefully drilling a hole down it's center. A hole just big enough for an "Easy Out" to fit (aKa "screw extractor"). Then try to get it out with the Easy Out. Brian P
I broke one of those bolts too....used a butt load of RTV and that one remaining bolt, it has held for months, until I finally get the time to do it right!
chronic139
use a mig welder and just weld some metal on the end. It will stick to the steel bolt but not to the aluminum. I had to do this when I broke the bolt that holds in the drivebelt tensioner on a 3.4. worked liked a charm. and I did teh timing belt while i was at it.
