Trolling, Thread Derailing, Off Topic Posts 12/3/07

In effort to keep informative threads running in the right direction, we will be taking a stand against thread derailing. This specifically applies to threads in General, Powertrain, Brakes/Suspension, Car Audio, Appearance, TGP, CSVert, and Classified sections. If necessary, we may extend this to all sections including Off Topic.

- Excessive off-topic discussion not pertaining to a thread's subject will be deleted. If your posts in a thread have disappeared, this is probably why. If a small number of off topic posts have been made, and yet the thread is still overall on-course, it will probably be left alone. If the off-topic content is of some value (technical discussion, etc) it may be split into its own topic in the correct section.

- Chronic repeat offenders will be warned, and if persistent, will be subject to temporary or permanent banning of the forum, depending on severity.

- Sometimes a de-railed thread is not seen by a moderator in time. A thread can be reported to any active moderator. Remember that just because a thread is reported, does not mean we must agree to correct it. We will adjust it accordingly as we see fit.

- If you have started a thread that has ultimately strayed off topic, and you wish to have it cleaned up, please notify a moderator via PM, and include a link. As the thread starter, we will extend the request to keep your thread on track. This does not include old inactive threads!
