slick Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 If you are going to use an asphalt based deadener expect this to happen!! It Just Fell Off!! Oh boy, how'd you clean that? Quote
Puggsley456 Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Oh boy, how'd you clean that? Its an experiment withe Elemental designs. They asked that I only remove the excess material but leave the brown coating alone when I apply their sound deadener. Oh and this was Second Skin! Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 How long was that Second Skin on there for? Quote
Puggsley456 Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 A year and a half. To be totally honest....Second Skin did replace the product for me. But this proves that even the most highly revered and rated products can fail. Quote
Addicted2bass Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Whatever you do dont use expanding foam as sound deadner. A kid I went to school with tried that. He shut the trunk to soon, before it dried and it permanetly selaed the trunk shut!!! He had to get the thing cut off with a torch, it was a huge mess. Quote

So technically you could use it as long as you waited for it to dry before you closed the trunk Quote
Ryan from Ohio Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Providing you dont mind warped panels also... Expanding foam when used properly and sparingly can be useful. As for the Second Skin falling off, its possible. There always that issue of surface preperation Many people just think they can peel and put it on and its done, not true. After dealing with enough BS and propaganda when I go to sound deaden my vehicles I will probably just buy the industrial crap from McMaster Car. Quote

My original trunk lid has yellow sound deadening foam all up the inside of it... I'm almost contemplating putting it back on lol Quote
