Upper Rebuild Question

Ok, so my friend has been giving me shit all week about this:

My 3.1 is running just fine the way it is right now. I just passed 100K miles, and I've never had an oil leak.

So I'm preparing to do an upper engine rebuild this summer (I've got brand new heads, upper, and lower intakes). My friend keeps laughing at me because he claims that I'm gonna get oil leaks all over the lower half of my engine that I dont rebuild. Do ya'll think this is true? I understand the concept of newer vs. older gaskets, but is it going to matter enough to cause oil leaks?

You shouldn't have any leak problems for a while, I vote on valve covers as the first oil leak to spring up and then your lower intake gasket is likely going to be the next culprit. I've got a junkyard 3.1/4T60-E in my 93 GP at the moment w/ close to 180K on it, nothing at all wrong w/ the motor, these motors last quite a long time without needing any major engine work if you do proper maintenance on them.
