Rear deck removal

I'm in the middle of my amp and 6x9 install in my 96gtp. I was wondering how to get the carpeted part off of the rear deck, so I can install my aftermarket 6x9s. Thanks

Im actually in the middle of a rear deck modification, mine was so far gone the carpeting would turn to dust when you touched it so removal was easy, its getting all the old adhesive stuff of that is a pain. I got a 5in1 painters tool that has a flat blade at the end and went to town just scrapping everything I could off. Electric sander with a heavy grit paper might work pretty good. If your rear speakers are anything like a Cutlass than be very careful removing the speaker mounting surrounds as they are permanently fixed into the cardboard.
