Thanks Andrew

This one specifically:

I know this is an old post, but is this the battery model number for a direct replacement for a TGP? Just curious about the top posts, does the reservoir interfere? The Optima site doesn't find any results when you search for any 1st Gens. Is there a yellow top version anyone has directly replaced? Thanks.

That Optima battery didn't last more than 2 years.

I went back to a standard lead acid Exide in that car.

With the PM3 specific washer bottle there is room for the top posts. The later 92+ ABS washer bottles don't provide adequate clearance.

1.  Optima is NOT a gel-type battery.  It is an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) which means normal liquid electrolyte "captured" in a fabric so it doesn't spill.  Virtually all automotive batteries--aside from perhaps hybrid/electric junk, which I don't pay attention to--use acid electrolyte, so they're all "acid type" batteries, even the AGM units.

2.  If you're allowing the battery to sh!t the bed every year or two, what is that repeated failure and stress doing to the rest of the electrical system?  Don't you think that would be hard on the alternator to have to maintain voltage with a failing battery?  The starter will be stressed, too, when the voltage drops below normal limits.  Might be time to buy REAL batteries and not torture the rest of the charging/starting power team.

Strange but true, put an old seat belt buzzer in series with the battery. Pull fuses until the buzzer stops and the fuse in your hand is the circuit that's draining. The PCM and radio always draw a bit of course. Probably a couple others but not as loud a buzz as something that can drain a battery that quickly.
