PS: According to Aaron Lephart(the first L67 swapper...circa 1998), the L67 weighs 67lbs less than a LQ1.

THAT I WILL BELIEVE...

A CAM CARRIER on an LQ1 weighs over 50 lbs. by itself...

ignore what everyone has said and do 1 of 2 things.

1. Drop in a 3.6 VVT/six speed trans from a g6 gtp.

2. DROP A V8 IN THAT BITCH

both would cost more money than the car's worth....and a waste of time.

I love the L67, but the fact remains that it is a boat anchor that lasts over 200K. My personal preference is something that is less of an antique and can easily make power.

First off let me state *i am not arguing against you or talking shit*

There's a reason for old technology. It works, and its reliable. Its not my fault GM puts fucking fabric/paper shit ass gaskets between everything. Other than that name 1 stock 3800 common problem thats also not common to any other GM motor.

Ok, aside from the intake gaskets AND plenum, the 3800s dont have common problems. But the 3x00 is the same damn way. Fix intake gaskets, and guess what, no common problems. Guess what, the 3x00s dont have plenum cracking issues  real metal FTW

3x00s and 3800 do have similar problems, theyre in heavy ass cars.

And your point is?

P.S. The Series 1 3800 doesn't have intake gasket issues. At least, not yet at 184,100 miles.

When did you buy your car? They can go out before 100k

swap ideas?... a s/c LQ1 PWNs all! A guy on Mymonte.com did that. the same s/c as the L67, the s/c sticks up through his hood and it eats L67's and transmissions for breakfast!...

That is a sweet looking car(I've only seen the same 2 or 3 pictures of it tho..)

  • 2 weeks later...

3400 with a turbo is the way to go. There is a guy on v6z24.com running 12.41 in the 1/4 with a stock block and a remote mount turbo at around 10 psi. Mine has headers I made and a saab intercooler. I couldn't get traction till third gear and still ran a 14.6 with 4.7 pounds of boost. With a pair of slicks I would have been in the 13's. Been busy and now with the kids I am going to swap it into a 93 cutty I got from a buddy. I also got a 5 speed for it.
