225/60R16 or 215/60R16 on 92 Cutlass Supreme SL

My 92 Cutlass supreme needs new tires. It has 215/60R16 on it right now, and that's what the trunk label says. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to tires. Should I stick with what I have or go with the 225's? What's the difference? I have the 16" sawblade rims. We get a lot of snow here in the winter, so traction is an issue. I did do a search, and saw a few comments in various threads, but nothing really helped.

225's are 1/2" taller and 10mm wider.

You'll get better winter traction from the narrower tire, and better dry traction from the wider tire.

ALL the new w-bodys since God-knows when have had 225/60/16s as the most popular sized tire. They are a good size for all purpose, and look good IMO.

for cost it shouldn't matter, P215/60R16 is used on the Ford Taurus and also the Toyota Camry, so they should be the same price. I have the 215/60R16's on my regular wheels (when the 185's aren't on) just because of the sticker.

I like the 225/60R16 more than the 215/60R16

I should ask, how do you like your ride quality?

I think the 225 give a softer ride,

while the 215 are more firm.

I looked at the info for the rolling diameter of a particular tire on the 225 vs 215,

for a 225/60R16 tire: 783 revolutions per mile

for a 215/60R16 tire: 800 revolutions per mile

that means your speedo would read about 2 mph slower than you would be traveling at 65 MPH with the upgrade.
