I am having an electrical issue. A tech friend of mine told me there is a in line fuse running between the alterntor and the battery. Dies anyone know if this is correct and if so where it would be located ?

I'm not sure on this, but I think what he is describing might be a fusible link instead of an inline fuse. I know my minivan has one, but I'm not sure about my Cutlass.

A fusible link is a section of wire that is a thinner gauge than the rest of the wire. If there is a short, that thinner piece of wire will melt protecting the electrical components.

this is correct. it's actually a pair of fusible links IIRC, so 2 potential points of failure.

They should be inline with the heavy gauge cable coming off the back of the alternator. It runs down to the starter solenoid. The fusible links should be right off the starter solenoid.

doesn't exist.

the only fuses or other circuit protection devices for the charging system are:

the fake "ECM 3.8L, SVC 3.4L" fuse (it should only have one terminal installed in the fuse port) in the passenger side fusebox that goes to the instrument cluster for the battery/check gauges light.

fusible link B(between the alternator and starter).

the IGN fuses in the passenger side fuse box.

fusible element P (also in the passenger side fuse box.

fusible link A(between the starter and the passenger side fuse box.
