Buick strut bar

I found a strut bar on eBay that is a dead ringer for the Cutlass convertible one. It is a square tubular design.

The part number (12456148) is different from the one on Shawn's page and the auction listing says it is for 2000 and up W-body. A little googling tells me it's a Buick part.

Is it really different from the earlier one? They look the same...

That's the Buick BAR KIT and it does not remotely resemble the Cutlass convertible one. The Cutlass convertible one is a true bolt-on, with the bar welded to strut tower covers. The square tube version was also much smaller diameter than the Buick bar in order to clear the 3.4 DOHC engine's huge plenum.

The Buick bar kit will work on a first-gen W-body if you drill holes into the strut tower covers and kind of bend them so the studs have more room between the strut towers and covers.

It's an $8 bar, so don't bother bidding on the one on Ebay.

I see what confused me. There have been many listings on eBay for these Buick bars, but all of them called it the Cutlass bar.

I should know better that to trust people on eBay to have good info...

So, do you have any pics of the Cutlass bars?

I'm pretty sure I have pics of the Cutlass bar somewhere on my computer at home. I have some of the Cutlass round-tube bar (won't work with 3.4 DOHC) and the Cutlass square-tube bar that my friend took for me. I'll see if I can dig 'em up tonight when I get home.
