1979lee
Well ive been thinking about throwin on a set of factory duel outlet pipes for my 3.1 98 lumina. i can get all the pipes and related goodie cheap at the junkyard. so my question is, Is it worth me doing this? will i feel a performance difference? better mpg's? If it's worth doing, ill do it, but if its just for looks or sound i wont. So???? thanks guys, this sites always been a good for help with this old beast. You won't gain much performance, and part of the minimal performance you do gain will be offset by the added weight of the piping. You might get slightly better flow but I wouldn't count on it. Performance, mpgs, probably very little, or not present. But the cool factor will go way up! ^What he said All it would do is look better and maybe sound better. Your fuel economy won't increase by a whole lot.

RobertISaar
You might get slightly better flow but I wouldn't count on it. true. stock 3100s don't need more flow at the end of the exhaust, but a proper downpipe will do wonders! GOT2B GM
the "panache" of "dual" exhaust is worth it
3pt1lumina
Did it to my 97 3100... sounds a little better, no noticeable change in MPG's and a very slight change in power, but believe me it isn't anything crazy, just a bit more "spunky". Plus I got mine for free!!!!!! So the price was right... 1979lee

94 olds vert
The 95-99 monte carlo will work.. Just grab the mounting stuff as they may be different since you are adding another muffler.

I will, i grabbed the front brake rotors off of it today, it had a 3800 v6 does that matter? it looked quite east to remove the pipes and ect., just 2 bolts near the cat, (which some fool had replaced with a muffler). ive wanted to do the for some time now, my muffler is about shot, it make a poping noise as it cools off (only in winter). thanks again. this is gonna my fun!! 94 olds vert
The fact that is has the 3800 shouldn't make any difference.
3pt1lumina
Yes, and as 94oldvert said, grab the mounts from the driver's side. You will need those. It's held in with 2 bolts IIRC.
94 olds vert
Yup that's right two bolts one on the muffler and one on the bumper support.

BXX
Jeebus, did axxxxxy do the spell check on the thread title? I thought about adding dual exhaust to my Doomina since the muffler is starting to leak, but its a POS that needs other things first. 1979lee
Well i Finally Did it! Last week I Installed the dual's off of a 96 lumina ls, with the dohc 3400 engine, the flange to the cat did NOT match, did not bolt up(pipe size is larger on doch 3.4's) , so i had to have the flange cut out and a pipe welded in its place see pics. i painted the mufflers with high temp 1200 degrees bbq paint, semigloss. looks nice. has a nice rumble, very quiet though. totally different sound. nice. i didnt this i was going to be able to remove the flange bolts, alnost RUSTED on... and this is a salt free california car... it does seems to run better, and its feels quicker. mpg's Who knows.... thanks all.
