matt1987 Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 On my 00' GP I'm having trouble with my a/c. What's happening is a variance of temperature from vent to vent. On the passenger side vents, the air is ice cold. by the time it gets to my side of the vents, it is luke warm. It blows just as hard as the pass. vents. Just not as cold. I already charged the system so there's plenty of r-134. I figured the pass. side air out of the vents is colder since it's closer to the compressor and components. Any ideas?? Thanks Quote
xtremerevolution Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Don't take this the wrong way, but do you have dual climate controls? It's a stupid question, but I've seen people overlook it. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 If it's electronic dual climate, check my FAQ thread. Quote
Pontiac6KSTEAWD Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Sounds like the typical blend door issue. Check the FAQ.. Quote

matt1987 Posted June 23, 2009 Author Report Posted June 23, 2009 Thanks. Does this FAQ apply to non dual climate cars too?? I don't have dual climate controls... Quote
95 vert Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 This is not enough freon. The pass side gets the air first. There is a remote chance that it's another problem, but doubtful. BTW, I have 2 GP's a 97 and a 99 and both have the same problem. Charged properly, they work fine but as soon as they lose some freon the pass side is colder than the drivers. Both have small leaks. pitzel Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 I had a similar sort of issue, the issue was a mixture door that had, for some reason, jumped its hinge. Had to pull the heater core to get at the root cause of the issue. One characteristic of a door that's jumped off the hinges is that, in the winter, the car just can't really get warm. This is because air from the cold side is always being dumped into the car through the door which should be locked completely shut. Quote
