Long Story Short, I Think My Fosgate comps are getting tired. i'd like to switch to new speakers. well, if i go through all that trouble, i thought about upgrading to bigger speakers. i think luke has made adaptors, has anyone else? also, i'm thinking about some excelon's cause i like kenwood. what other brands would you recommend?

don't know. i can tell you how to fit 5.25's where 4x6's used to go  if you must go major brand, i would get bostons. for one, i wouldnt' trust kenwood speakes and for two, you already have boston subs.

its not really going to be an upgrade if you already have subs. I would keep the 5s. just because its easier.

I know you aint tryin to hear that though.

boston, memphis, JL.

or if you want the real, Morel.

I've heard some Kenwoods and Infinity speakers, and I honestly don't think they compare to the PolkAudio DB5250 front components that I'm using.

All to his own, but I think Polk Audio makes some damn good car audio, and i can say that from experience since I also use their DB690's for my rears.

I'm leaning heavily towards the Boston S50's.....

The local audio shop that I get all my stuff from treats me really awesome....and they carry Boston...

he said he'd do $170 for me....I think that is a great price for components...

i just got S55's from ikesound for my jeep, well, they're supposed to arrive monday. i also just got a deck from sonicelectronics, whom i've bought from before and had decent customer service. i looked at the techtronics website and they would've charged shipping for my item, anyway, so it wouldve been about the same, but i guess they have free shipping over $100...good site. i'll have to use that one next.

you can mold the 6.5 into the door panel in the stock location (for a gp of course) and get rid of the fasctory mounting plastic thing... this also allows you more debth for your speakers

Naw, I retrofitted the 4x6's to hold 5.25's. You can't fit 6.5's in the stock location w/out some sort of modification of the factory speaker pod. Attached is a picture of what I would like to do to mine someday (found the pic on an ebay auction a while back). But I'd like to find a way to keep them tucked behind the pod instead of on the front.. less obvious and more stock looking.

  • 2 weeks later...

damn i want door speakers in my 94 cutlass period.

It should be pre-wired. For some reason, while my Cutlass was NOT wired for HUD, it is wired for the 6 speaker system.
