SnipSnip Posted September 23, 2002 Report Share Posted September 23, 2002 :bawl: Well, the mechanic installed the MAP Sensor and it didn't work. Car is still running like $&!#. So, he has given up. I am picking my broken car up tomorrow and taking it to someone that I don't know who probably knows nothing about these cars and will charge me thousands of dollars to tell me that it can't be fixed. All I know is the car was running fine, I was driving up the daily hill, it downshifted and KABLOOEY! Smell of hot/burnt something and car rattling all over and sounding like a veedub. I wish I knew more about cars but I do know what fried wires/parts smell like and he didn't find anything burnt. Wish I knew what it was that I smelled. It filled the car with that stink. Anyhow, I am going to try and call Jim W. and see if he wants to take a stab at troubleshooting it. If any of you have any thoughts, please let me know. Thanks and I will be in touch.
