herb427sc
Did you remove the nut and cotter pin???? Pickle fork and three pound hammer... It does not matter if you ruin the rubber cup(BOOT) because that gets changed anyways...
99RegalGS
Removeing the balljoint from the lower control arm can be a PITA. The one I did on my Regal last winter needed a pneumatic air hammer with a pickle fork end to get it seperated.
GnatGoSplat
searching, found a few different 1s Cheap http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product?storeId=10101&Pr=p_Product.CATENTRY_ID%3A2004158&TID=100&TID=100&productId=2004158&catalogId=10101 List on Ebay http://motors.search.ebay.com/ball-joint_Automotive-Tools_W0QQbsZSearchQQcatrefZC6QQcoactionZcompareQQcoentrypageZsearchQQcopagenumZ1QQfclZ3QQfgtpZQQfposZ02464QQfromZR2QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQlopgZQQsacatZ34998QQsadisZ200QQsaprchiZQQsaprcloZQQsargnZQ2d1QQsaslcZ2QQsbrftogZ1QQsofocusZunknown Most of the generic ones won't work because the forked part isn't flat, so they're not designed for control arms quite as wide as these cars have. I bought a couple different kinds from JC Whitney and had to send them all back.
gp90se
Thanks for saving me the $26, might have to fork out the $ you spent.
Turbo231
The one thing you have to remember with suspensions is to NOT be Mr. Nice Guy. If you want to avoid getting all sorts of knick knack parts...a hammer and a pry device/drift will get you far if you just HIT it. You're not going to break anything, and if you do, it needed to be replaced anyways. Take a peak at one of those fast job places...do these guys mess around...no, if a wheel won't come off...out comes the sledge hammer. You'll get the knack of it after your first few couple of part replacements, but after a while, it becomes second nature to pound the hell out of it quick. Good luck. mihela816
DO NOT BUY THE TOOL FROM JC-WHITNEY. It took them 4 months to finally ship mine out, And it turned out to be a cheap piece of shit. It broke on the part that goes around the grease cup. joey b
When trying to remove a balljoint from my g/f's taurus a couple of months I was so pissed. I bought a 10 lb sledge and broke a pickle fork right in half. GET THE SEPARATOR FROM ADVANCED AUTO. It came out in less than 5 minutes after I got home with it. Well worth the 30 bucks, and has an attachment for an airhammer.
THe_DeTAiL3R
Pickle fork is good for nothing, I busted mine too. Then I tried the smaller one I got (for tie rods?) and I bent it with my own strength.

DrRodey
"when all else fails, use a BIGGER hammer" it'll either break free or Break if you wail on it hard enough. :bash:
