i think both the 3100 & 3400 would take a Series I 3800 W-body.

I think a Series 1 3800 will take a 3100.

Here's why:

In 2002 my Regal ran a 16.8@82mph with 115k and BONE STOCK.

Last weekend GP1138 (sorry to point you out lol) ran a 16.8@81mph with ?????miles with a 3400 intake swap.

I think a 3400 would take a L27 3800 in a 1/8 mile or longer race though...

but in ur saying a Series 2, with a 2002 Regal would have, ran what a 3100 GP would, correct? so in that respect, a series 1 wouldnt be able to touch it

i think you misunderstood him  he ran his '93 Regal back in 2002, which has a Series I L27 3800. he doesn't have a 2002 Regal.

I've hit several 16.8's and 1 16.5 timeslip...at about 82-84 mph with my bone stock 3100 having traction issues (could only load the converter to 1200rpm)

I honestly don't think GP1138 was brake torquing it...

What does a 2.3 HO Quad 5-speed car run in the 1/4 anyway? For some reason I think they might be faster than a 3.1 if not a 3100/3800 series I

Davis owns one and said it's pretty quit (faster than his vert 3.1 and I think his 92 when it was n/a 3.1). They're rated at 180hp or something, so I wouldn't be surprised if they would take on a 3800 series I or II. I'm sure it would beat any 60* except the 3.4. The 3400 and newer (175hp) 3100 wasn't in any 1st gen so I'm not including them.

Yes, Josh is correct.

I wish I had a 2002 Regal GS!!!!!! :)

7. 2.8 MPFI

8. 2.3 DOHC

9. 2.5 Iron Duke

10. 2.2 I4

11. Empty engine bay

As was already mentioned above, why is the 2.3 way down there??? It was available with 180hp in some w-body models. At 180 its more than the 2.8, 3.1, 3100, and series I 3800. It should be 2nd or 3rd on that list, even with its lack of torque.

Wouldn't multi port fuel injection yield better results than the single injector? just curious..

5. 3100 SFI ?

6. 3.1 MPFI ?

SFI is still multi-port, but the injectors are fired sequentially rather than batch-fired like MPFI engines. TBI is the one with the single injector (throttle-body injection).

I agree, a 3800 Series I *should* take a 3100 powered car in a race. Magazine times got a 16.0 or 16.1 out of a 3800 series I Regal. I ran a 16.747@81.93 in my parents 94 Regal Custom sedan(L27). My run was made on a crappy day(temps were above 80* and it was really humid out.....also at 1100' for what it's worth...the car can do better now without a doubt. After doing a tune-up on that car, I actually "felt" a difference in power. ).

Definitely the quad would beat a 2.8. I just forgot about the 2.8 and stuck it there as an afterthought.

New List:

1. 3.4 DOHC

2. 3800 SII

3. 3.5 Shortstar

4. 3400 SFI

5. Quad 4 DOHC- HI output

6. 3800

7. 3100 SFI

8. 3.1 MPFI

9. Quad 4 DOHC-LO output

10. 2.8 MPFI

11. 2.2 MPFI

12. 2.5 Iron Duke

13. Empty Engine Bay

I don't really know much about the quad L.O., but I think the 2.8 would still beat it.

And the quad 4 H.O. should go up a couple on the list. ;)

I know...like I said, in some cars it was available with 180hp...I didn't say there wasn't a lower power version available. Being a previous Quad 4 owner I know a little bit about their power output. Either way, the 180hp model does still exist so it should be way higher on the list than the original list put it (under the 2.8  ). The 160hp one should still be higher than it is on the new list. Even with the 3 speed trans it should still take a 3.1 w.

A Beretta GTZ with a Quad 4 will produce consistant 15.5s......which is about the same as a 3400 swapped Beretta will run.

Anyone know what gearset Quad 4 HO W cars got?

Final drive is the 3.64 or whatever the one around that is (3.6X IIRC). Not sure what the difference in each gear was but I know it is slightly different.
