    Sounds like you got an auto mount instead of a manual trans mount. Viewing rockauto the olds cutlass manual mount shows an auto mount under the manual trans option. I found the right ones under a 89 Grand Prix. Screenshot below.

    That rubber shield covers the air inlet port for the clutch housing.
