BUT WHEN YOU TURN ON THE CAR IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING COMES ON AND IT SHIFTS A LINE AND MAKE A NOISE LIKE IT IS HITTING SOMETHING. IT ONLY DOES IT WHEN YOU START THE CAR. paulo57509 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Share Posted February 26, 2004 My '92 Lumina makes a similar noise. It sounds like it's coming from under the dash board on the passenger side. In my case, it's the heater box door(s) opening/closing. Why, I have no idea. I don't recall this sound always being there either, so why it started is anyone guess. I figure I'm losing vacuum someplace when the car is shut off and parked. This might explain why on extremely rare occasions the A/C will stop blowing through the dash registers and blow through the floor vents.
