Hello! I joined a while back but haven't posted anything yet. I was born January 1990 so I've literally grown up with the W-body. As a small child my aunt and uncle owned a blue first-gen Lumina that they bought new. For some reason I loved the three spoke steering wheel in that car. As soon as I was tall enough to see into parked cars I'd press my face against the driver side window of every Lumina I saw just to see the steering wheel. My mom drove a 1996 Lumina for many years and I drove it occasionally as a teenager. In many ways it was an excellent family sedan -- roomy, comfortable, reliable, and fuel efficient. Yet as a base model with the 3100 it was very boring. Sometimes I think Chevrolet wanted nothing more than to build a cheaper "off brand" Taurus. I wish every Lumina had been more like the 97-99 LTZ.

In college I drove a 2001 Buick Regal LS. I loved that car and the 3800 V6. It had leather seats and an aftermarket sunroof. Ironically my love for that car resulted in my disliking the Century with a passion. I just don't like the faux LeSabre look, bench seat, steel wheels, and 3100 V6. I think that kind of car was beneath Buick's dignity. I think my dream W-body would be a Regal GS with the interior from an Intrigue. Unfortunately I was an idiot and totaled the Regal. It had yet to turn over 100k. I feel terrible about it to this day.

Eventually I ended up with my 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS. The 06/07 Monte came out when I was in high school and I remember thinking "GM finally got that car right." So of course GM killed it before I even graduated. I added aftermarket rims since it had steel wheels.
