I decided to explore the underbelly of the beast today and really look at it.

I think it looks good for its age...very little rust.:D

The camera died halfway through pic snapping so you only get half, more pics tomorrow.

Actually I think that other strut is the original stock one. Dunno where that silver color is from, but the strut body is flat black. It kinda exploded today...oil went EVERYWHERE.

Any suggestions for a good strut to get?

By the way, I'm in Virginia. Don't know the full history of the car, but I'll assume that it wasn't driven much during winters.

kyb GR2 (now known as KYB excell) or Monroe Sensatracks. Check rockauto for the best prices, and search "rockauto coupon" on the net to find a 5% off coupon they always have.

don't forget that you could probably benefit from new struts mounts too....

Damn, your car looks cleaner underneath than my '96!

How is the frame by your TA mounts? Mine had some surface rust pop up outta nowhere, and I can't seem to keep it gone. I wire-wheel it, prime it, and paint it like once every 3 weeks...

For living in WI that is pretty clean underneath.

Thanks! The car was originally a GA car so that probably helped, poor sod was almost rustfree when I got it =/

Yeah...and the old school jackstands are awesome.

Until they fall on you, yeah  Better stands are on the xmas list.
