They actually stick on the body much like a tint sticks on your window. The great thing about them is that they will not trap moisture under them and rot out your hood. As for your bugs and tar... I use Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover (black spray bottle). You spray it on, let it soak a few minutes then rinse it off, I rarely have to do any scrubbing to get the bugs and crap off.
