94-96 DOHC's had a MAF screen, as well as 88 2.8's I believe.

When I had my old Cutlass, I took it out, but it seemed to hurt performance more than anything, so it got put back in.

MAF screen... GM paid engineers to design it, people to prototype it, and materials/equipment to mass produce it, but its only purpose for existance is to rob HP & torque.

Makes sense, no?

It smooths out the flow at low flow (idle and just off idle) to get accurate readings. If you have anything other then 8-10" of straight pipe on each side of it then you might want to keep it. Removing it will make the engine run a hair leaner which if you feel anything that is what it is.

And someone flow tested a MAF with and without, there is very very little difference.
