the previous owner changed the timing belt himself, and the car runs like dog crap now, :( I have a feeling he has a cam or two off time, the car starts up first crank but idles at 2500 RPM, it has a severe hesitation when given gas and has absolutly no power! Maybe 20-30HP all cylinders appear to be working it just has no power and idles real real high.

the car needs a front bumper and a couple other things, but otherwise its a real nice GTP and i wanted to save it before he had it crushed or something. I always wanted a z34 or a grand prix 3.4L DOHC 5 speed

its even got front/rear buckets.

Anyone have any ideas on if the car would still run if a cam or two are off?

Crappy. Extremely crappy.

The timing of the DOHC is extremely important for power and wear-&-tear.

You can set the timing yourself; ask around here, Vegeta should still have them.

Or you can trust you local mechanic / engine builder to deal with it.

But before ripping into it, make sure that's the cause and not all factor contributing to a poor running motor.

The high idle is most like due to a cracked Intake Manifold Gasket.

Shoot some aerosal brake cleaner or thottle body cleaner around the gasket.

If the RPM's spike either way or the car sputters, you've got a leak.
