Andrew Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 <----- just curious ..................... why? Quote
threepointone Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 i dont really have a reason Quote
RobertISaar Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 the 4 banger may have been the base engine, but that doesn't mean that many cars came with it.... besides, duke lumis are like the most unexciting vehicles to ever grace GM. a whopping 80something HP pushing a 3400 pound vehicle + cargo + passengers.... Quote
Galaxie500XL Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Not to mention, it's one of the few engines that I can tell are in a car just by the noise they make. I really can't refer to it as a "sound"... Quote
RobertISaar Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 yeah, it's more of an endless groaning. now..... a Q4 lumi would be balls to the wall fun. too bad they never made them. there are the relatively rare 2.2 lumis out there though, they fared better in MPG and performance than the duke. threepointone Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 i saw a duke in the salvage yard i frequent was in a '90 car was clean they wouldnt sell the car whole to me i took the chrome plastic grille off it and put it on my 92 i had to switch the turn signal lights to fit it properly so if any of you guys happen to find a 4 banger lumina please let me know Quote

5speedz34 Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 I've seen a pretty good amount of Iron Dukes but very few 2.2's. You're nuts though the 3.1 isn't even all that adequate. Quote
ManicMechanic Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 according to compnine, 2.2 was never available in a Lumina. Quote
5speedz34 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I want to say that's incorrect. I think the 2.2 replaced the Iron Duke in '93 or '94. Quote
RobertISaar Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 i have a couple of GM calibrations for them.... Quote
ManicMechanic Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 https://www.iaai.com/Vehicles/VehicleDetails.aspx?auctionID=0&itemID=10391949&RowNumber=1 39,902 made in 1990 Quote
RobertISaar Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 2G1WN5442P9236020 plug that into the GM TIS site and it registers it as an available option for 93 and shows the BCC that applies to it. Quote
RobertISaar Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web neat stuff. plug in the correct VIN for a platform and engine and it will show what MEMCALs are intended for it after asking what trans/emissions/etc Quote

5speedz34 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I can't imagine a 4cyl being much more efficient than a 3.1 having to lug a car as big as a Lumina around. Quote
Night Fury Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Jeez that dogbone is a foot long! Quote
virtuetovice Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Buck seems to be pretty experienced in picking out foot long bones. Quote
